He was my fourth favorite in the 80s. My first was Van Halen. How could that combination go so wrong?

Judas Priest and Iron Maiden rounded out the top 4.

Van Hagar > Van Halen, and it isn't even close. Sammy Hagar just seems like a cool dude who likes to lay back, make his own tequila, play at his own bar, and tour when he wants to. It is his world and we're all just living in it apparently.

Even if you like David Lee Roth over Hagar, you've got to admit that Roth just seems like a bitter dude who hates life while Hagar would be awesome to have as a neighbor.

Well, maybe not a next door neighbor, but just around the corner.

Are you high? Van Halen became all emo during the Van Hagar years...."Right Now" is beyond schmaltzy.

Make no mistake about it....the best Van Halen song is "Unchained".

However.....

I'd rather hang out with Sammy, and I do enjoy his solo work as well as his tequila.

/Yes, I realize that he sold of most of his stake in Cabo Wabo.
//And the new bottles look crappy.

Van Hagar > Van Halen. Not even a contest in my book. OU812 is one of the best Van Halen records ever made.

I cannot even begin to describe how big of a fail this post is, but I'll try.

Go back and really listen to the records. Van Halen is rock that will probably still get a party going. Van Hagar is sad bastard arena crap that pathetic "peaked in high school" types listen to while wishing they could still grow enough hair to feather it. Van Hagar was the worst of what happened in the 80's, and was awful in trying to adjust to the 90's.

Dave's autobiography is the farthest thing from bitter that you could get. Most of the book is a positive reflection of his years growing up and his years spent in VH, as well as his extensive world travels. It's also one of the most quotable books of its type. Dave's solo music after VH retains the energy and party atmosphere that he is legendary for creating.

Say you like the music more all you want, but your post was really uninformed. Dave would be the best neighbor in the world, because he'd want to take you rock climbing, canoeing, exploring a city at night on a bicycle, and then he'd take you to an awesome party where you'd probably get laid. He'd have you laughing the whole time, too.

That's pure, unadulterated trolling right there.

A long time ago, in the 80s, I saw Sammy Hagar at Cal Expo and some guy I'd never heard of named Stevie Ray Vaughn opened up for him. The metalheads in the audience chanted "Sammy! Sammy! Sammy!" all through his set. I always wanted to write to SRV and apologize to him on behalf of Sacramento. Still can't wrap my brain around who decided they'd be a good bill together. At any rate, the good thing I got out of that show is I got turned onto Stevie Ray.

Musically speaking, DLR with Van Halen is millions of times better than Van Hagar. It is not even a contest.

Saying Van Hagar is better is like saying Coverdale/Page is better than Led Zeppelin.

I will agree that Sammy seems like a much cooler dude than DLR, but I don't listen to Van Hagar. If it comes on the radio I turn it off. It is that horrible.

Don't listen to those other idiots, Cherone was awesome in Van Halen. He's much better in Extreme though so I'm glad the VH thing didn't work out.

GNR didn't even have respect for their own fans, and Slash is a fair to middlin' guitarist at best.

Must be true. The 1st thing that popped into my head when I saw the pic was "It's Wayne from The Wonder Years!".

Obligatory. (new window)
