Books, beds, clothes, fishing and camping gear, etc. Oh yeah that's right. I'm not participating in your silly little depression.

Not even then.

Right before the white man showed up, the Indians had no taxes or regulations.

feedle: 4/10. Extra point for effort, but still not up to our usual trolling standards.

I wasn't trolling, I was just pretending like I knew what I was talking about, like everybody else does. Capital gains tax and another Stamp Rebellion will solve all of our problems.

tommyl66: BillSmith70: When was that mythical time when we had no regulations and no taxes?

A Real American would know the answer to that, and I'd be doing the country a disservice if I simply told you the answer.

Because there was never a time. That is the correct answer. The ignorant keep blaming something that has never existed in America.

I spent many thousands of dollars on a two-week driving vacation from Georgia to Arizona and back.

I thought the drive from Pecos to Carlsbad was going to be the most boring part of the trip, but sure enough Oklahoma proved me wrong.

We made it out of AZ just before the entire state burst into flames.

5219 miles in fourteen days.

Does the $4500 I had to drop for a new AC count? That's going to be 'of note' for a number of months to come.

We spent a lot on movies, a lot on medical (due to an power tool mishap) and a lot on gasoline. We also set a new record for the amount of money we contributed to our MM account.

I'm not tied to physical possessions, have a few things that keep me comfortable and entertained, and volunteer at the library and a bicycle recycling and repair co-op. Internet and pirated Wii games are things of note which I consume. Freezer is fully stocked and we have a garden.

The other evening, I was at the local village pub. It was in the high 80's with humidity to match. Across the street, I watched as a homeowner was installing a window air conditioner in the second floor bedroom window. He was no doubt looking forward to a comfortable night's sleep for a change.

Then he dropped it. AC units don't cotton well to a two-story fall.

so quit being coy, tough guy, what did you buy it for? or should i say, "who" did you buy it for?

Dropped some serious dough on a guitar amp trade deal @ the end of May. I've bought a few odds and ends, and had a car repair bill or 2 to deal with, but no big purchases since.

No big purchases planned for the future either, aside from acquiring a second job in the fall. I'm making headway, but it's not happening fast enough for my liking.

I've been investing in lead since early 2008 (well more then normal for me) but something tells me you'll need more then lead for that baby. I did get 300 pounds of lead free from a range cleanup recently.

I would love to get one but there are 3 things holding me back.

1) Paying for daughters wedding.
2) Living in the Peoples Republic of NJ
3) I need my debt limit increased and congress hasn't gotten to it yet.

You can always use wheel weights. I pick those up free from tire places. Then you have to learn to load your own ammunition.

People are free to waste their money however they want.

People who buy guns do so in case we get invaded by another country or if the government starts telling us what to do.

You know, because a man with a gun is going to save the day against drone strikes and nuclear weapons.

If he bought a .50 cal to hunt anything other then maybe elephant, he's an idiot. The .50 cal has a terrible MOA and is used to diable vehicles in the military. I'd take a .300 Winmag any day of the week over a .50 cal

just to clarify: i'm taunting a guy with a stock photo of a sniper rifle.

i just love it when people make veiled threats and then aren't man enough to come out and say what they mean. it's like the guy with the "it's time to water the tree of liberty" sign, who, when confronted, pusses out and claims he didn't mean anything by it. bull-shiat.

Why do people need those kinds of guns? I can understand if you are hunting...but still. And I don't understand the appeal of shooting at things in the desert. People do stupid things with guns.
