Hmm, I would have expected the perp to be a Single White Female.

Thomas T Noguchi - a Japanese national who emigrated to America in 1952 - later became Senior Medical Examiner of Los Angeles County, carrying out autopsies on such luminaries as Robert F Kennedy and Marilyn Monroe as well as others of lesser luminescence.
One of these more humdrum cases concerned the body of a delightful
young blonde, found very dead beside her bed with a bloodied bullet hole in the center of her forehead. The surrounding flesh showed typical abrasions around the entry point.
An aspiring screen actress, she had yet to get a foot on the slippery ladder to success.Superficially, to the police it looked to be a standard case of death by desperation and vulnerability. Neighbors had not heard a shot. A search of her apartment failed to find a gun. A deputy pathologist carried out an
autopsy and reported himself baffled to find no bullet in her brain or elsewhere and not even an exit wound.
Some bullets possess a life of their own and have been known to strike bone,
finishing up in someone sitting beside the victim. Los Angeles being the home of oddball crime, Noguchi had the body stored awaiting further checks. In the meantime he fretted about the impossibility of the missing bullet and how could it could have just vanished.
The problem was still buzzing in the back of his mind when he went Christmas
shopping and stopped outside the window of a posh boutique hoping to solve the annual nightmare of what to give his wife. He became smitten with a green blouse draping the slender figure of a mannequin. Economy set him searching for a price tag. His gaze traveled down the clothes to the feet of the
mannequin; before his eyes was a possible murder weapon - a woman's stiletto-heeled shoe!
Noguchi had a skeptical LAPD detective carry out a search of the neighborhood for a such a shoe. Amazingly, a mere block away,
a woman's shoe showing traces of blood was found. The blood group matched that of the dead blonde. The size exactly fitted the hole in her forehead. The shoe was made of leather and sweat from the wearer assumed to be the murderer - had been absorbed. Antigens from this gave forensics the blood group (A, B, AB or O) but nothing more. The killer remained incognito.
A theory was put forward by the LAPD. A sex-change male or transvestite - but not a woman - would have the strength to kill with such a weapon and they had a suspect in their sights. Unluckily their attempts to trace him were unsuccessful. The murderer was never caught. But, at least, Thomas T Noguchi could sleep soundly again having found the guilty weapon.

Think I remember a show a while back that detailed a lady in a waiting room, who threw a stiletto heeled shoe across the room and it ended up killing a man.
Roughly recall that she had been aiming the shoe at another woman, and that I think the waiting room was for cosmetic surgery.

Anyways, those shoes are dangerous. Whenever I see one ground into the foot of a person I twitch.

Holy shiate. I was gonna be embarrassed by being the one who recalled the scene in Single White Female.

Guess I'm in good company in terms of regrettable pop culture knowledge.
