Edna Miller, 53, of 2851 560th St. in Kalona, was trying to separate a bull from the rest of the cattle at her family farm when it attacked her

Isn't that kind of obvious? You know, NOT to try to forcibly remove a farking bull from it's herd?

Ummm...it's pretty much the only way though. Try it some time. It's the kind of thing that encouraged me to go to college.

If it wasn't for your bull, you wouldn't have spent that year in college?

What specifically did the bull DO? Trample her? Knock her down and stomp on her? Bite her? Gore her? (if it has horns) (they all do, don't they?)

Judging by the recent themes in Iowa-related stories on Fark, I would have guessed that the leading cause of death in the state was machete attacks.

I remember reading a statistic that more people are killed by pigs every year than are killed by sharks and thinking "How the hell does someone get killed by a pig?" (not a boar mind you, a pig which is different).

It was a cow born into a bull's body.

I went to my uncle's farm yesterday and and I helped repair the cow fence. As a kid I learned you never name a beef cow because its harder to enjoy rack of Jack. The weird part is the cows know it. I see them and I wonder where the porterhouse is located and they look at me and I can tell they would love to stomp on me.

To be fair, the bull was overweight and had man-udders.

Apparently Mexico was known for putting all manner of animals together in pens to see who would clober who. I'm told full grown bulls were known for killing grIzzly bears, lions and many other animals you'd think would kill the bull.

Apparently this woman didn't get the memo and got the horns.

Bummers.

Was it a sharia cow? Because you know those marauding bands of sharia practitioner cows
are scary.

The story has a happy ending though, as the bull was later slaughtered and turned into Big Macs.

I was just going to point that out: a boy cow is called a bull. Unless he's had his gonads chewed off by weasels, in which case...

Huck And Molly Ziegler: What specifically did the bull DO? Trample her? Knock her down and stomp on her? Bite her? Gore her? (if it has horns) (they all do, don't they?)

cattle, unlike horses, don't bite.

dairy cows in the united states are almost always dehorned, as are the natural service sires (bulls). beef cattle may or may not be dehorned. but you may be a farking idiot if you don't dehorn your bulls (bulls are intact and used for breeding cows, steers are castrated and used for beef).

if it had horns, it likely gored her. if it didn't, it bucked, tossed and trampled her. either way, not a pleasant way to go. they probably have a herd of beef cattle, the cows should all be pregnant by now so that they will calve (give birth) in spring. bulls are notoriously aggressive when they no longer have any cows to breed (think blue balls). according to the article, the bull had a history of being aggressive and was being culled (removed) from the herd to be sold the next day to prevent exactly this sort of thing from happening. it's a very unfortunate sequence of events.

cattle, especially bulls, are unpredictable. an animal that has always been gentle and nonaggressive can flip out and attack you with no warning, completely unprovoked. we have about 250 head of dairy cattle and use bulls for breeding instead of artificial insemination. if the bulls show ANY sign of aggression they are shipped the next day, no questions asked. 2000lbs of snorting rage is NOT something you take lightly.
