Johnny The Homicidal Maniac would make an excellent potential movie. Ok, fine, cartoon, Invader Zim would probably do well.

What's that? The Next Airbender was based on an anime series? Oysh... next.

Yay, three points of fail in one sentence:

1. It's The Last Airbender.
2. It's based off of an Animesque western series.
3. Big pet peeve of mine: That one film in a genre fails doesn't mean they all will. The only possible way that a Naruto live-action movie would be worse than TLA is if M. Night Shyamalan directed that one, too. Or if Uwe Boll got his claws into it.

Added to favorites. Perhaps one of the most underrated comedies of all time.

"Leslie escaped with a small friar"

"Leslie escaped with a chicken?"

Actually came in here to say that instead of adapting a tongue and cheek Space Ghost, they should look into the "GrittyTM" reboot that DC did a few years back. I can't remember the exact plot, SPOILERS but it involved Space Ghost being betrayed by his superior and the forced abortion of his child followed by the murder of his wife.

The hell with the Jetsons, lets just make sure she shows those puppies more.

Now, Elmer Fudd (played by Bobcat Goldthwait) .... rest of this message redacted as sounding like a good movie to pitch

Right. Because other anime-based live-action movies all rocked.... Great hits like The Guyver and Fist of the North Star.

Gargoyles is well-regarded? I saw an episode the other day because some new Disney channel showed it after an episode of the classic X-Men cartoon (which is still great). I loved it as a kid but it totally sucks. And the Speed Racer movie was awesome, dmars, it's a great big fun candy-coloured drug trip with a monkey. What's not to like?

f they did a live action Beavis & Butthead, they'd have plenty of actors to choose from. Any two Fark users would do nicely.

Like what? What, in your mind, constitutes an original idea? Because, I bet no matter what you come up with, someone will cry "ripoff of [x]". Especially here.

2011-07-31 09:17:59 AM
A movie HKF would have to be a cgi/live action mix, like Underdog or Rocky & Bullwinkle.

Unfortunately, they'd probably make Kevin James the chief, which would make the movie basically unwatchable on its face.

2011-07-31 11:30:23 AM
A Gargoyles movie could be great, but I doubt it will ever happen. It never seemed to have a large enough fanbase to really get a shot like that. The third season stunk (wouldn't surprise me if that was the season of the episode that AgentOrangeDrink saw), and attempts to draw out interest through DVD releases (still waiting for the second half of the second season btw) and comics just didn't pan out.

/Maybe we should be glad it likely won't happen.
//They'd find a way to screw it up.

Lets assume that you're a director and I'm the studio who you're going to for funding. Give me a brief synopsis of a totally original movie that you want my studio to back. Go!

Funny, I was just thinking with all these crazy cartoon real-life movies out lately, Hong Kong Phooey would be one heck of a fit. Fun show, remember seeing it on USA's Cartoon Express. Wouldn't be the same without the Scatman.

was great until the third act, where it wedged in this ridiculous anti-gun message between dead bodies and clones.

It's easy money for Hollywood. Not only do you get the people who did not grow up watching the cartoon/television series/etc, you get the people that feel nostalgic and want to take a stroll down Memory Lane at $10 a ticket (not including hot dogs and a bucket of popcorn that contains more salt than a salt mine, so you are compelled to buy an olympic pool-size cup of soda to kill the dryness in your throat).

If an old cartoon or television series from the 60's/70's/80's is a dead body, then Hollywood is the necrophile that will flip that body over, cornhole it with glee and exclaim: "Oh, baby! Don't be so stiff!!"
