Because that's all over the place. This should stand alone.

I love '90s reports that compare the internet to CB radio.
I remember Bill Mahar scornfully dismissing email as the "CB radio of the '90s." Nice prediction, Bill.

Is this before or after he got his "Jugalo" tattoo?

And of course, the guy they cite that got arrested for porn was from Tennessee.

Also, interesting to see both Billy Corgan and Moby with hair.

And yet, you chose not to link it either.

I still remember the first website I ever visited, in 1993 or so - MTV.com, which wasn't even run by MTV, but rather by Adam Curry.

From Simmons' take: Newt Gingrich complaining about Internet porn

Ummm, no. Gingrich said that cracking down on porn is a violation of free speech and the rights of adults to communicate with each other as they see fit.

Tylercn: Why not link to the Grantland article that you pulled this from Subby?

Because there's nothing more annoying than when someone submits a link to a blog which links to another blog which links to the actual funny/relevant content. Just submit the raw material already.

Newt Gingrich caught for all time in a scandalous act of reasonableness.

I think this may be the first time I've ever actually agreed with Newt Gingrich. Wonder if he ever used the internet to "communicate as he saw fit" with any of his mistresses?

Also: Moby and Billy Corgan look f*ckin' WEIRD with hair.

/okay, weirder

Shostie: Virtuosity

SID 6.7 (Russell Crowe) is a virtual villian who escapes into the "real world" after being transplanted into an android body. I'd say that has something to do with the internet.

Wow, check out that lazy eye on that "cyber journalist."

2011-07-28 02:35:24 PM
wow, watch that clip if for no other reason than for the novelty of seeing Newt Gingrich say something that didn't suck.

That was back when AOL was $3 an hour just for crappy chatrooms and message boards. One month my sisters and I racked up a $500 bill, mom wasn't happy. Sad thing is most of that was me pretending to be a lesbian in the gay/lesbian chats.

timujin: your blog sucks

Grantland is a hell of a lot more than a blog and actually has some really diverse stories written by some great writers. If you like poker Colson Whitehead is writing a recurring feature on his time at the WSOP. Check it out.

Yeah, I remember being introduced to the internet around 94-95 at a friends house at a party, and for some reason we ended up in a lesbian chat room. Little did we know it was full of 300 idiots just like us. What was it about lesbian chat rooms?

TheMega You'd think he'd have at least ended up in Gangsta's Paradise by now. But seriously, did I miss him in that video or is the headline just making fun of the mid 90's?

So depressing what it is now.
