This has been happening a lot on CNN lately. The news anchors have been snarking the producers on air. Real journalists haven't gone away, only producers who care about journalism.

Ever since my digital cable lineup added BBC News, I've pretty much quit watching American cable news networks. Now if only they'd add Al-Jazeera English.

That segment solidified one thing; Don Lemon is a newsman stuck on a Romper Room network.

How has not already been canned in favor of some hungry young local anchor who's willing to play ball with the producers?

A "lemons" tag for a Don Lemon? *clicks tag* None of those stories have anything to do with lemons...

On a related note, I got to meet Don when I was a guest at his birthday party last year. What a blast! Nothing beats a gay Lemon party.

Mr. Lemon seems to think that he's a journalist, while CNN thinks he's a newsreader. The former involves intelligence, while the latter is merely reading a teleprompter regardless of how inane the content is. We know he's right, but he's never going to win that battle. Hope he lands somewhere good once some middle-manager cans him for being "uncooperative"...

This was great when I saw it. I'm glad some anchors are tiring of all the drivel. We need another Cronkite, Murrow or just anyone that just reports the facts. Nowadays, I have to read the story then go read the story again from 5 or 6 different sources and then come to my own conclusion. I just want the facts. I don't need a talking head telling me how I should feel about the story. That documentary "Control Room" I rented on Netflix was very fascinating to me.

I remember when news anchors dealt in news...most 'news' you see on TV today is an extension of the E! network...The latest Kardashian episode shouldn't be discussed on major news networks...

this anchor rules...

Lemon is the only decent anchor they have on during the day. Between Ali and Carol Costello, the rest of them are empty-headed idiots.

Grab a Roku box. AJE streaming available on it 24/7 for free. Probably doable on other STBs, too. But honestly, I don't get why more people don't snag a Roku/etc when we all complain about what's on TV.

Didn't TDS also do a bit pointing out the absurdity of something else CNN starting a few months ago? That they would present teasers to three stories and you the viewer got to vote on which one they aired on their website. The one that Jon Stewart aired showed 3 really compelling teasers for 3 important stories and he basically called them out on their sh*t for not putting on their big kid pants and finding time to air all of them between the regular fluff.

Around that time I was at the gym and watching CNN while they were running that sort of thing. 2 really compelling teasers for 2 really important stories and then something about a cat show. America voted that they wanted to see the piece on the cat show.

the sad thing is that the "celebrity" version of Jeopardy is dumbed down for them. that Blitzer failed so hard just goes to show how ignorant he really is.

A score that low indicates that the Dunning-Kruger effect is probably at work.

/Apparently, before the show, Blitzer was acting pretty condescending toward Richter and commented smugly to Alex Trebek, "Ah, like you, I have a job where I learn something new every day."

This weekend, I found out my cousin had heard about Amy Winehouse but not Norway. She's a 22 year old college student. Made me sad but not surprised.

It is a sad world were people care about cat shows over world affairs. Brave New World is becoming truer every day.

I think what's even more impressive is that Andy Richter may have had a future on regular Jeopardy that would propel him to being a celebrity. Andy does happen to be a smart guy, you know.

As for Wolf, he got what he deserved. Moron.

It's not like there's anything important happening in the world these days. Now if we can just kill off NPR, all our problems will be over.

UNC_Samurai: Now if only they'd add Al-Jazeera English.

You can get Al-Jazeera English as a free live stream if you have a Roku. (But if you want to get the Daily Show and Colbert Report on your Roku you'll have to shell out for playon.tv).

I like the Roku's Netflix streaming more than my TV's or Wii's Netflix too. And it is a painless way to buy eps from Amazon so I can keep up with current Dr Who (in fully HD without commercials). And it's kinda awesome to set up a Youtube favorites list of all 80's music videos and have the Roku play them in random order on my TV - it's like MTV when they played music videos (I could even add in clips of the VJ's if I wanted to)(but I really don't).

If you can't guess, I'm a big Roku fan. Cut the cable cord years ago and never looked back (note: I watch no sports and only have a few hours a week for TV anyhow). I'm sure there are equivalent or better ways to get free streams to TV, but the Roku is easy (once you figure out how to google up the good 'private' channels like Youtube).

Let's replace Don Lemon with Don Cherry, and see if the audiences notice...

If Lemon feels that he has to express his "integrity" with comments that undermine his network on air, perhaps he should resign and seek work at a more dignified network. The reality is that CNN pays him to be a talking head, nothing more; by that measure, he's the one expressing major fail here.

Real journalists don't become anchors.
