Move along, nothing to see here.

The President seems to be the only one who remembers he took an oath of office to defend this country. He should since he had to take it twice.

I think he might have just shown his hand to the Republicans.

2011-07-26 02:15:03 PM
Considering they are the ones who will completely sink this economy if we DO default, this is a good thing.

I don't like how Obama has bent over for Wall Street and the banking industry, but at least he is trying to stop our country from having to apply for FreeCreditScore.com.

No YOU'RE a Towel: I think he might have just shown his hand to the Republicans.

His hand of, "I will force the Republicans to do their job and I will not let the country be destroyed by them."? That hand? Because that hand will win an election any day of the week.

2011-07-26 02:17:05 PM
And once again, Faux News lied in its headline.

FTA: A senior banking official told FOX Business that administration officials have provided guidance to them...

Who is this banking official, and who are the administration officials involved?? I'd really like to know.

And, as usual, the stupid Teabaggers believe the lie without question.

This surprises anyone? All aspects have to be managed. All angles have to be placated as long as possible as far as possible. That's what the entire concept of "stability" entails. If Obama did anything else, he would look weak.

FTFA:administration will not allow a default to happen even if the debt cap isn't raised by the August 2 date

Sounds like he's prepared to whip out the 14th Amendment if Republicans don't play ball.

thomps: weren't republican leaders saying the exact same thing to the exact same people earlier in the summer?

Mitch McConnell was hoping that the President would bypass McConnell's party to get this done. So McConnell could get this business over with so he could get back to bashing Obama for being a horrible leader as soon as possible.

Awww, come on! We won't get to riot? Great now what the hell am I going to do with 100 mason jars and all that paint thinner?

I really wanted to burn this country to the ground, starting with the Teafaggots, no insult intended to homosexuals, and moving on to the remaining Republitards houses, buisness, and bodies.

He's saying we'll use what revenues we get to pay off bonds. That doesn't mean all will be okay when the government stops paying other bills.

Dear King Haakon, I am not dictating. What?

2011-07-26 04:27:33 PM
Most would see this as a "whew, what a lot of hot air for nothing". Naturally, it's spun as dictator for life mass hysteria that is probably made up to begin with.

2011-07-26 04:27:34 PM
This is a secret?

Of course he's told the banks that.

Oh, right, dog whistle politics.

He's an international banker Jew of mystery now as well as being a muslim crptyo-Christo-fascist, isn't he?

2011-07-26 04:27:52 PM
Executive order has always been the most likely resolution to this problem in my eyes. Obama can at least get it done the way he wants so that he can live with what happens knowing it was his choice. The republicans WANT him to do this because they think its a bad decision and will use it as a talking point in the upcoming elections. They are NOT negotiating in good faith, The only problem is the guy they are trying to paint into a corner, has been standing in that corner the whole time.

Ps - the republicans will lose another election because of this. They think its a bad decision but the reality is it is a decision that cannot be avoided. its the easy decision. The hard decision is the cuts that follow.

Plenty of this 14th amendment chatter.

Fox has a nice video up: "ARE WE IN DANGER OF AN IMPERIAL PRESIDENCY?"

lol
boy that would just drive them nuts.

not that i think anyone should want to see us get that far...

while it would save our asses from checks not going out after August?/September? it probably wouldn't save us from a downgrade.

An EO stating what, exactly? There *are* limits on executive authority, btw. Or do you see a Obama as a chavisto

The President publicly saying "We're going to default" definitely won't cause any problems.

It definitely won't.

"John Chambers, the chairman of S&P's sovereign ratings committee, said "this is the time" for the two sides to tackle the country's long-term debt problems.

"If you get a small agreement, that will lead to a downgrade," he told Reuters in an interview."Link (new window)

Given that using the 14th is not an agreement, and does nothing to address our long term debt problems, a downgrade would still be imminent.

No he's not. He just told Boehner again he's going to veto his two step plan and the ink isn't even dry on it yet. This all while preaching compromise.

After that, I'd leave a flaming bag of shiat on his doorstep and go on vacation til the 3rd.

Obama isn't interested in jack shiat. If he can make the payments then go for it. The House already passed a bill and did its duty. Obama can stop whining like a little biatch.

At this point, fark it, default. Apparently Obama has the money to cover it himself.

No YOU'RE a Towel: I think he might have just shown his hand to the Republicans.

Fox Propaganda is just a wing of the GOP echo chamber. This is just another version of the Talking Point that nothing bad will really happen, so do it, jump of that cliff baby! Don't settle for less then 100%, and even then, change it on the fly and go past the date.

Pretty transparent IMO.

It did it's duty by passing a bill that wouldn't avoid a credit downgrade? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAh

Well if Fox News says so then it must be fair and balanced. Anyone want to lend me their cellphone?

2011-07-26 04:41:53 PM
Of course not. The only reason the US gets such low interest rates is because the banks have assumed for decades that the US will end entitlement spending once the money runs out. All the Republicans are doing is accelearting the inevitable.

I was at a conference ten years ago when someone from Goldman Sachs flat out said this while being broadcast on the net.

You mean the latest and greatest Boehner plan that not even the majority of House Republicans will vote for? Obama can't veto it if it never gets to his desk dumbass.

Not me...no way on earth a career politician risks reelection like that.

As I said weeks ago:

"You people clearly don't play much poker.

We haven't even gotten to the flop yet, and you're all freaking out.

Obama is going to threaten to do nothing unless the GOP agrees to tax hikes. The GOP is going to threaten to do nothing unless Obama drops the subject of tax hikes. This is all pre-flop posturing, and it means nothing yet.

We have almost 3 weeks before a deal needs to be cut. The final version will be thrown in front of Congress at the last possible moment, so that neither side has any time to analyze and critique it before the deadline. It will fly through Congress, and get signed by Obama a day or so ahead of the deadline."
