kendricd: I had that happen once. It just kept moving around my midsection pissed off and stinging me. Some lucky home owner got to see me scream into their driveway, tear of my jacket, throw it in said driveway, while swearing and stomping it. At least I hope they were watching...

Luckily I've never had anything make it's way into my jacket. I do get the occasional firefly ricochet off my faceshield in a glorious display of light, though.

I came fairly close to the most likely crash cause recently, here's my vid. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QFgQczvOMRQ

Hey, I'm glad you got out of that one ok, but I have to ask, what's the speed limit on that stretch of road?

Heh. Now I'm reminded of this guy. No offense, just wandering thoughts. The very end is the best part.

magicgoo: It was 94°F out today, and I wore a leather jacket, leather gloves, full helmet, and leather shoes with ankle protection.

I took this Friday at 3:30 PM at the BMW MOA rally in Bloomsburg, PA and I, like most of the wise BMW riders there, was wearing all the gear while riding.

Haha, that was awesome. That reminded me of the host of Pinks wrecking a bike. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9gth09KEdkQ

BeSerious: Motorcycles are Darwin's favorite conveyance.

Motorcycles are a hell of a lot of fun.

So much fun, in fact, that many people choose to ride them even though they're fully aware of the increased safety risk.

Many people choose to look at life as something that should be enjoyed, not just survived, and accept the fact that sometimes enjoying it to the fullest means putting yourself at increased risk.

So you can act as smug as you like, but you should understand that you aren't being smarter or any better at life just because you choose differently than others. For all the reasons you can manufacture to look down your nose at other people for their choice to ride motorcycles, so too can they find reasons to look down theirs at you, if they so choose. It's all a matter of perspective.
