I'm a little confused. Is that because it's important to protect your hand when you're picking your nose while riding your bike, or to prevent you from picking it in the first place?

How totally unobservant do you have to be to not notice some guy crashing through your back window?

/texting? cellphoning? BJing?

Who doesn't stop immediately when rear-ended? Because, yeah, the guy might have slid under the van.

Was there glass in the back window? That had to make a hell of a noise when the guy went through. You wouldn't glance in the rear-view to see what the hell hit you?

No sense. This makes no sense at all.

(Unless he told his wife, "Here hold my crack and gun while I go back to the accident scene."

ONONDAGA, N.Y. -- Police say a motorcyclist participating in a protest ride against helmet laws in upstate New York died after he flipped over the bike's handlebars and hit his head on the pavement.

The accident happened Saturday afternoon in the town of Onondaga, in central New York near Syracuse.

State troopers tell The Post-Standard of Syracuse that 55-year-old Philip A. Contos of Parish, N.Y., was driving a 1983 Harley Davidson with a group of bikers who were protesting helmet laws by not wearing helmets.

Troopers say Contos hit his brakes and the motorcycle fishtailed. The bike spun out of control, and Contos toppled over the handlebars. He was pronounced dead at a hospital.

Troopers say Contos would have likely survived if he had been wearing a helmet.

Don't care how close your house is you don't leave a scene of an accident dumbass.

Unless the guy drives a hearse for a living, it's a little disconcerting that he didn't notice the body in the back of the van, either. Unless, of course, he had to go home first, to remove the other bodies he already had back there. "One, two, three, four...hey, where'd this one come from?!"

I've had a motorcyclist rear-end the car behind me, fly over it and bounce off the back of my car.

He had a good helmet too, and ended up concerned mainly with the damage to his bike, arguing against going with the ambulance. I'm pretty sure he got a ticket, though.

That guy died from a handle bar to the temple, his only significant injury. Had he been wearing a helmet, he'd have walked away with a bit of road rash.

Maybe he was riding in support of helmet laws? Because that would be some hardcore dedication.

Would've been better if the driver of the motorcycle was a woman and she fell straight on the driver's dick.

That would finally convince my girlfriend that it IS possible.

The driver of the van was dumbass because what if the rider had slid under the van? The rider would then have been dragged under the van while the driver went to his home and back to the scene.

I am hoping it went something like this:

Van driver, feeling oh so mellow flicks roach out the window, smiling. He's almost home.

BANG

After a moment for reality to sink in he thinks "What the hell - I just got hit from behind. Hallelujah, lawsuit here I come!"

After another moment for reality to further sink in he realizes that he's driving an unregistered, uninsured vehicle on a suspended license with the rest of the pot he just scored sitting on the passenger seat. He guns it, drives a half a block, screeches into driveway, thinking, "Phew, that was close."

Wife hears commotion, comes out of house.

"Honey, what's going on?"

Just then, van driver sees groggy biker appear in rear-view mirror, looks over at accident scene and sees witnesses speaking to policeman and pointing towards the van.

Then that cinematographic technique where the camera goes from a close up of the cop's face as he spots him and his eyes get that squinty "you're mine, farker" look to a long shot from the cop's POV in a fast-motion zoom to the driver's "I am farked" face.

FTFA: A motorcyclist who plowed into a minivan landed unscathed in the back seat

he only asked for an ice pack for his hand

I know this is picky, but doesn't "unscathed" mean that one doesn't sustain any injury? Or are we just using it to mean serious injuries now?

Also, I'm still failing to understand how no one checked the backseat. This sounds like a horror-movie plot.

My friend and I were driving down Sunset after a rainfall and all of the sudden, right at our turn, he jams the accelerator and the car lurches. I'm like WTF and then I hear a high pitched whine and a CRASH. He said That dude was going to kill himself so I hit the gas to soften the blow. Some dude on a crotchrocket was going to fast behind us, slid in a puddle and had totaled his bike on my friend's Rent-A-Wreck sh*tmobile. So we pull over to see if he's okay, and he's getting up and dusting himself off. Just as we're asking him if he's alright, we spot his friends. Nine guys surround us on their bikes. Turns out they're Crips. The guy who hit us is acting sheepish, but the group's hothead is starting to make us nervous. Luckily an older guy, I guess the leader of the pack rolls up. He says, "What the f*ck you botherin' this boy for? I saw your dumb ass goin too fast in the rain. And I saw what this boy did. If he hadn't sped up, your dumb ass would be dead. Thank him and let him be on his way." My friend was still offering to exchange insurance info as I was dragging him away and sighing with relief.

austerity101 : I know this is picky, but doesn't "unscathed" mean that one doesn't sustain any injury?

It doesn't say he was injured, it just said he wanted an icepack for his hand.

Maybe it was really hot inside his gloves.
