What the guy did was horrible no doubt - but look what started the whole thing. He kissed his four-year-old son on the lips and the f*cking lady called the cops? WTF? He didn't tongue kiss his son. WTF was wrong with those people?

I kiss my six-year-old son on the lips all the time. Go call the cops on me, assholes

Thou Shalt Not Hack From Home. Nor shalt thou hack thy neighbors, nor thy friends. Thou shalt not hack whilst angry, lest ye maketh Mistakes and attract the Daemons of Misfortune down upon Thy Heads.

A reading from the Book of Hacking, here endth the lesson.

Wi-Fi-hacking neighbor sentenced to 18 years

So any love interest he has now will be legal by the time he gets out.

I'm sure that he will be kissing many things while incarcerated.

He did everything EXCEPT spoof his MAC address and go through 7 Boxxies? JEsus. If I was going to fark with someone that seriously, I'd be grabbing an old laptop off of Craigslist, changing the MAC every couple of days, keeping the lappy somewhere else. Guy's a total n00b.

rule one of hacking bounce of different servers and computers.
rule two of hacking change one's mac address to look like a router or a printer. mac make up is free and easy to install
rule three don't keep said photos of the crime on your computer or any evidence of that nature, or you will go to pound me in the but prision.
rule four use magnets when you think you are getting caught of said crime. The stronger the magnets the better.
Final Rule DON"T GET CAUGHT YOU FLIPPIN DUMBARSE.

Really surprised WEP still exists...

Live in 1400 sqft house, surrounded by neighbors. Can get 4-5 WAP's to choose from. All are using WPA (at least v1).

Old apartment, tiny little place. Something like 15 WAP's. 1 open AP. Everyone else using WPA.

I understand that vendors choose to include WEP to ensure legacy compatibility. For consumer-grade devices, they need to stop offering the option of WEP encryption.. This is the era of disposable consumerism. Consumer-grade electronic devices (especially networking hardware) tend to fail within 4-5 years.

/remember WEP IS NOT FOR ME!

2011-07-18 03:44:16 AM
OK, wait... maybe, ummmm... turn heavy encryption on for your WAP? I mean, jeez, even in the suburbs near the Pentagon, drive around with a laptop and you'll sniff scores of "linksys" WAPs.

farkin' DUH.

I switched to WPA from WEP after reading about how vulnerable it was but I don't know how tough WPA is. Is it "unbreakable" - I am not talking about the NSA but to the average mid-level cyber-douche/former script kiddie types.

Good point about threatening a VP or the Pres. If this guy has actually hung that around his neighbor's neck it could have meant years in prison just to satisfy this guys little tin god issues. This reminds me of that sick biatch that kept threatening the little girl with cancer and harassing her till just about the whole world pounded on her and she STILL says things like she wants to pee on the girls grave etc.

Too bad we don't have all those old creepy "one flew over the cuckoos nest" type mental hospitals run by the state because this guy and the lady I mentioned should be locked up in them for about 10-20 years each rather than prison. It would lead to the eventual lobotomy and that would be a good thing.

For all intents and purposes, yes. If you are using WPAv1, ensure that your access point's password is at least 8 characters long.

Same here, I laughed hard at that. I'm just imagining how ecstatic the cops must have been, I mean he essentially did their job for them. Can you imagine this situation with any other crime? "Well, we went to serve the search warrant on the murder suspect... we found several knife sets, written plans to stab a guy, pictures of the suspect stabbing a guy, detailed descriptions of him stabbing the guy, and as a bonus, a copy of 'Murdering For Dummies' on his desk."

WPA-PSK (which is the WPA mode everyone uses) isn't exactly any farking good, either. The general procedure for cracking it is the same - all the software is the same. The only difference is that it takes longer. I haven't looked since WPA2 became commonly available (mostly because I gave up on wifi because it sucks), but I'd wager it's more of the same.

I can see the detectives looking at the mound of evidence and saying "Does this count as a solved case on our records if we didn't have to do anything?"

/Been following this one for awhile since it's local. Glad the cops didn't just put everyone that was even remotely involved with it on the Sex Offender list just to make sure.

/// Seriously this guy is a clinical psychopath. "You reported the fact that I forcibly kissed your 4-year old son? I shall spend all my time destroying you!" Police: "Sup?"

This whole thing started because the family let their 4 year old just walk into Aldorf's house. At least they could have thanked him for returning the kid unharmed. And even if he did kiss the kid, calling the police instead of talking to the man privately about any concerns about kissing the kid .... could lead to exactly what happened. "Be kind to your neighbor. He knows where you live".

Sorry, nothing excuses what the man did. He obviously doesn't care about anyone but himself. He went way out of the way to make these people's lives not just hell, but a living hell.

The dude kissed a child he didn't know on the lips.

The guy did the same thing to his previous neighbors because the nurse that took care of their disabled twin daughters parked in a spot he didn't like.

Not exactly a stable person, and he probably would have done what he did eventually for some other reason.

WPA1 uses TKIP. It uses a common key as the basis for the encryption, but then the key is hashed periodically, effectively "cycling" the authentication code.

WPA2 works similarly to WPA1, but using AES.

The procedure for cracking WEP involves sniffing enough of the poorly-encrypted packets, until patters can identify HOW the packets are being encrypted. Done well (and on a network that has plenty of traffic), it can take a retarded child-kisser about 5 minutes. WPA does not share this weakness. WPA1 uses a large amount of permutations, to the point where it becomes exponentially harder to resolve the password as you did in WEP cracking. WPA2 is much the same, but uses AES.

If you'd wager, you'd loose.

/Seriously, don't use WEP
