I remember doing that. My brothers and I once tried to make creamcicles by freezing milk. It works much, much better with fruit juice.

It's supposed to be in the mid-90s for three straight days here.

I live in freaking Ohio, you know how often we see mid 90s even ONCE during a summer?!

Yikes!

/In fact, it'll be 5 straight 90+ days... we typically see on average 6 a YEAR

La Fee Verte: Now in this thread; I demand recipes!!

OK, how about a cool Mexican treat... Raspados! Here's how I do strawberry raspados.

1 lb strawberries
1 cup sugar
2 cups water

Cut the tops off the strawberries and cut them up. In a small-medium saucepan, put the sugar, the water, and half the cut up strawberries in and then heat to boiling (best to do a little slower than usual.) Once boiling, reduce heat, mash the berries into the water, and let the mixture simmer gently for about 15 minutes, stirring occasionally. Then pour into a large bowl through a strainer. After you let the strainer drip syrup into the bowl for a little bit, throw out the berry mash and put the syrup in the fridge. After it's cooled down somewhat, like an hour or more, put the other half of the berries in the syrup. You now have enough to make several strawberry raspados.

To make the raspados, you need the syrup, shaved ice (or ground up like you would for snow cones) and vanilla ice cream (optional, but highly recommended.) Fill a tall glass 3/4 of the way with the shaved ice. Then put in a nice generous scoop of ice cream. Then about 3/4 cup to a cup of the syrup with berries. Enjoy!

You can make raspados with any kind of fruit syrup you can concoct up. Ice cream is a popular add in, but some prefer a little condensed milk or even just no add in, just the syrup and ice. There's few things that will cool you down better for longer. Just one reason I love living in Tucson.
