I actually used to watch the Fresh Prince, it was really a good show, but I would have NEVER guessed that Will Smith would go on to be one of the biggest movie stars ever to live. I guess you just never know.

I think it would work better if he was the rich uncle in a mansion

Tentacle: I think it would work better if he was the rich uncle in a mansion

Nah, let Carlton fill that role. A big part of the character's charm was its fish-out-of-water aspect. Either kill Uncle Phil off or say he retired to France or something.

Maybe he's grateful for them taking him in, and now that they're aging he's moving in to help take care of them.

It would be cool if he still mouthed the other actor's lines.

In 2011 it would end up as "Tyler Perry Presents: The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air starring Tyler Perry based on the novel 'Uncle Phil' by Sapphire."

He should be shacked up with his cousin Ashley, who walks around naked a lot.

Hmmmm, obligatory:

In West Hollywood raised up right
In the bathhouse was where I spent most of my nights
Makin' out f*ckin' suckin' all nude
And all shootin my load all over some dude
When a couple of guys
Took off their underwear
Startin making trouble with my derriere
I got in one little orgy, my mom got wrecked
She said "You're goin' to the clinic to get yourself checked"

I whistled at some stud and when it came near
I noticed his cock ring and a plug in his rear
If anything I can say this man was hot
So I thought "Let me get it' - 'Yo dude get me off'

He pulled his thing out, it was 7 or 8
And I whispered to the dude 'Yo homes I'll fellate ya'
I looked at my hardon
I was finally there
I sat on his bone, I'm the Queen of Bel Air

I would definitely watch that. I catch reruns of the TV show every once in a while and it really was a good show. Even the later episodes, where everyone was a wacky caricature, were still enjoyable.

On another somewhat related note, hearing this for some reason got me thinking that the guy who played Uncle Phil died recently. Looked up his Wikipedia page not only is he alive, but he's straight as well. I could've sworn he was gay. Then I thought I may have been thinking of the Family Matters dad as the fat black sitcom dad who is gay and died recently. But nope, he's still alive as well and no proof that he's gay.

Did a fat black sitcom dad die in the last couple years? Were any of the fat black sitcom dads gay? Who the hell was I thinking of?

As long as his wife isnt anywhere near the project. She turned down the role of Will's girlfriend once ('cause it didnt pay enough) and she's been riding his coattails on just about everything else since that mistake.

False. She auditioned for the role but was turned down because she was deemed too small for the role.

I watch at least one episode of that every Friday morning, along with SBTB...

I would not mind a reunion type TV movie. I don't see Wil Smith going back to a TV show full time though...but if he gets "Sheen" type money...he might.

Anything that isn't reality TV gets the thumbs up from me.

Will Smith and the quest for more money. I hate this asshole. Which is saying a lot, because I used to actually LIKE Fresh Prince. But this dude's career choices, and the whoring out of his children...I've just had enough of Will Smith for this lifetime, and would be indifferent if he died.

So he's going to play the character as getting a sex change so he can play a big fat black woman? Because that NEVER gets old!

MagSeven: is REALLY ok with this.

Isn't he homeless?

2011-07-14 05:43:59 PM
I can see him producing a remake of it, but not reprising the old role.

/Of course his kids will have to star in it.

2011-07-14 05:57:30 PM
If it is a movie (or TV movie), they'll of course have to change Aunt Vivs midway through the 2nd act.

No idea so I actually Wiki'd him. Seems he is still producing somewhat. I would hope that Smith would toss him some work, if things got destitute.

ah yes, The Stale King of Bel-Air. sounds riveting.

He joined that scientology cult a while back so now he HAS to make more money, since it's all a big moneymaking scam.

Umm, there's nothing racist about it considering I've seen at least one rap album spell the "RTH" phoneme as "RF". (It was a different word than Earth, but y'know), so spare us your faux outrage.

He wasn't a sitcom star, and it's been a while, but are you thinking of Paul Winfield? Otherwise, I can't think of anyone that sounds like that.

No, I think he means the dad from "Family Matters. (new window)
He was the black cop in Die Hard. I heard the rumor that he was fabulous as well.

Ok, I guess that's where I got the gay thing from. I'm not sure why I thought it was Uncle Phil and I have no clue where I got the dead thing.

So for those keeping score, Uncle Phil - alive, straight and The Shredder.
