That should do wonders for convention centers...telling companies that they can't sell anything at the trade show.

On second thought, let's not go there. 'Tis a silly place.

I take it the author of this article came from the Fox News "some people are saying..." school of journalism?

Can't believe I wasted my time on an Examiner link. WTF, Fark.

So, if I have my kid's birthday party in a San Francisco park, I can't hire a professional clown?

Sounds like win/win to me...

The letter of the law is important. I won't rely on the word of the bill author simply saying: "Nah DOOD! No way! We didn't mean to say that, man! Like, you can do whatever. It's cool."

Then after it's passed, the Po-Po are all like: "WHERE'S YOUR G-DAMN PERMIT BIATCH!! SPREAD 'EM!"

That's usually the way it works here in Maryland.

It's good to see that liberals can be just as stupid as conservatives.

Walker: It will soon be easier to list the things NOT banned in San Francisco.

Plastic bags, pets, companies profiting...makes you wonder why anyone would live in such a whacked out part of the country. It's like the people actually go home and masturbate to ideas on how to screw over everyone else.

You could always hire a not for profit clown.

They're far more righteous, but no less scary.

It's actually ridiculous here. In Balboa park in San Diego, I've seen three different weddings in one day, each hogging a different section of the park. So I can imagine how bad it could get at more popular parks.

What about circumcision parties?

2011-07-12 06:00:14 PM
Let me get this straight:

Problem: City isn't spending enough on parks and rec from the general fund.
Solution: Those places that don't have an entry fee can't be leased to private companies.

New problem it creates: Things like weddings, b-day parties, or picnics where, at most, somebody paid for services to take place in said park cannot happen?

Is that's what happening?

That's fine. Cemeteries are complete land wasters. You can't build above it, below it and it takes up a lot of space. Not the best use of valuable land on an area with limited space.

There's a proposal to ban selling pets in SF. It's being overshadowed by the anti-circumcision measure. Yes, the ban would include goldfish. Because it's evil to keep goldfish in a big bowl of water.

If passed, it would not outlaw current pets, nor would it prevent people from obtaining pets. It would just put pet stores out of business. Besides, few pet stores sell dogs or cats. It's mostly birds, rats, and fish.

The term is "animal companions". Calling them "pets" is frowned upon (if not outright illegal).

You're really a resident of SF? Seems blaringly obvious this will pass since 99.9% of the SF dog cultist hipsters are already "adopting" dogs for $ rather than buying them for $.

Ahhh, to be a young 20-something from outlying NorCal, back when SF was f*cking MECCA. The possibility of making a living playing music, Non-biker tattoo places, screaming hot women everywhere (probably men too, but they're not my flavor), every kind of rad food in the world at all hours of the day and night, nonstop live music, great record stores where one could find all the rare and import vinyl one wanted, great art scene, great local sports teams. Some neighborhoods smelled like piss ( they still do BTW) and were places where you definitely wanted to keep your eyes out for riffraff, but you could afford to move there with your hopes and dreams and at LEAST get an apartment with a couple room mates and take your shot.

Now? Living in the city is as expensive as Manhattan and, oh yeah, this>

So sad. Glad I was a miserable failure 20+ years ago there and moved back where I belong. At least there was NEVER hope here.

Right, because only "cultist" "hipsters" own dogs. Your logic is infallible.

Makes me wonder if this also applies to Moscone center. Another reason not to hold shows in SF.
