I approve of Jesse and the Rippers, Zack Attack and Dr. Teeth being on the list, and I now I pleasantly remember the Blowholes.

But putting Wyld Stallyns below the Brady Bunch is a crime

Remember that period in popular culture in the late 80s early 90s when a kid with a mohawk/punky look could make a living as an extra for movies/television because everything featured at least one "dead punk" scene where they say something snide to the Reagan-era hothead justice figure and get their head blown off?

Remember the Quincy "Punk Rock Is Killing Our Children" episode with Pain singing I Dig Pain (I Feel It In My Brain)? Good times I tell you, good times.

hoots_toot_ochaye: I can see them leaving out Eddie and the Cruisers, because the real band that did the music for it, John Cafferty and the Beaver Brown Band does exist, and still does concert appearances, but how about Strange Fruit, from the film Still Crazy?

Well, no. Since about half of the bands they DID include had real bands that did the music for them credited in the article.

Monkees don't count.

Yes, they were put together for the show. However, they eventually became a real band, wrote and performed their own stuff, and Mike Nesmith and Peter Tork were real musicians.

Y'know, I was going to use the "real boy" thing in my OP, but decided not to.

By their third album, they were writing a good portion of their songs, and were playing every note on the album. Then, after a couple of albums of playing like a "real" band, each individual member would go into the studio with his own studio musicians, and they would take what they thought was the best material and release it as an album.

And, yes, the best stuff was usually Nesmith's.
