Comedy gold:

Cop: "Do you think you could do field sobriety?"

Bob: "A blow job would be better."

Also, the cop needs to get a better PBT. The one he was using:

is too difficult to get a reading on.

I doubt it. Cops following their training will do whatever they can to keep a happy suspect happy. If they had been shiatty with this guy - mayor or not - his common sense probably would have kicked in and he would have shut the fark up. Instead, there's a 9-minute video of him repeatedly admitting that he's drunk.

If those cops had really wanted to help the mayor, they would have cuffed him and put him in the back of their car immediately and sorted it out at the jail, away from cameras. Maybe charged him with reckless operation.

Those cops actually farked this guy really bad.

Was there some video cut out of this where they held a gun to his head and yelled DRINK BOB, DRINNNNNNK!!!???

You're missing the point. I'm not saying the guy didn't drink and drive.I'm not even saying the guy shouldn't be punished. I'm just saying that any arguments about the cops being nice to this guy or helping him out because he's white and/or the mayor are bullshiat.

He made no aggressive actions, so they kept things light and friendly. Then they let him ramble on for 9 minutes, just collecting more and more evidence. Again, they couldn't have let him off completely without the risk of getting caught and creating a huge scandal. But they could have encouraged him to shut the fark up, refuse the sobriety test, ride with them to the station and call a lawyer. Instead, they treated him like any other happy drunk and let him make an ass of himself so they could guarantee a conviction later.

To be honest, I don't really have a problem with anything the cops did. But they certainly didn't do this guy any favors.

Better to say they let him fark himself.

But I get what you're driving at, and you're right. They sure as hell weren't helping him, they were letting him tie his own noose.

/okay with that

Drunk driving is a sport in Wisconsin. Fark should really keep a tally on Wisconsin DWI articles like it used to with the Saudi/Texas executions.

i think drunk driving is actually a crime. but that's just me...

DUI laws differ from state to state. In Wisconsin, DUI is not considered a criminal offense, so his statement is technically correct. He's saying this a traffic matter, not a criminal matter, and he's not wrong about that. I get what you mean, of course, and think in spirit you're correct.

First of all, I can't remember a video ever on fark where the suspect was jovial and compliant, and the cops still tasered, pepper sprayed or beat the shiat of him anyway.

Secondly, it's not like middle-class white people and public officials are exempt from getting farked by the police. It seems like at least half the people we see get tasered are entitled twats who try to pull the "Do you know who I am?" card and refuse to do what the officers tell them or actively struggle.

And third, using Fark as your sample for how police normally act isn't exactly good science. It's not like news agencies post videos of the thousands and thousands of traffic stops and DUI arrests every day that go over without incident.

I really hate having to defend cops, because I don't particularly like the police. But if you think the cops did anything for this mayor's benefit, you're out of your farking mind. They let him admit multiples time on video that he was drunk, essentially assuring a DUI conviction. I can't imagine any defense attorney getting that knocked down to reckless operation. And by letting him make a complete ass out of himself, they basically tanked any chance he had at salvaging his political career. Even if there's no mechanism for the city or state to remove him from office, I don't see how he can effectively govern after this shiat.

I get what you're saying. But just to clarify what has already been said. In Wisconsin, your first OWI offense is not a "crime." It is a traffic offense. However, it is still punished very seriously. With even the minimum punishment, he'll go without a driver's license for 6 months and pay around $2000 in fines and alcohol classes.

Also, any offense after your first OWI, is a criminal charge and in some cases can cause the previous charge to be bumped up to a criminal charge as well.
