Well, I imagine that nationwide, there's probably nearly ten black people who would ever vote for Bachmann, so it's not like she's alienating any massive voter base.

2011-07-08 02:50:27 PM
Well, to be fair, slavery's arranged marriages and breeding did tend to last longer than most marriages today...even ones not from Hollywood.

On the other hand, who signs pledges like this?

I_C_Weener: On the other hand, who signs pledges like this?

People who believe in purity tests.

Well Michelle let me see, I haven't been whipped with a whip, forced to pick cotton or change my name to Toby, so I'm going to say fark off.

What's the next step for these idiots? They already are trying to say that black people were better off under slavery, so is the next step to then say the U.S should reinstitute slavery and introduce a bill?

dahmers love zombie: Well, I imagine that nationwide, there's probably nearly ten black people who would ever vote for Bachmann, so it's not like she's alienating any massive voter base.

Other than, you know non-racist whites. There are plenty of white folk who think that slavery was abhorrent, we're a pretty big voting block these days.

Of course I wasn't going to vote for her anyway. You don't stick your vote in crazy, everybody knows this.

And I believe the pledge also includes a clause to fire anyone who allows women to serve in forward combat roles.

2011-07-08 03:15:42 PM
So, how would any of this create jobs?

I was told the Tea Party was elected on a platform of job creation.

2011-07-08 03:17:39 PM

Quasar: And I believe the pledge also includes a clause to fire anyone who allows women to serve in forward combat roles.

From JerseyTim's link: "...plus prompt termination of military policymakers who would expose American wives and daughters to rape or sexual harassment, torture, enslavement or sexual leveraging by the enemy in forward combat roles."

Yeah... I can see some good intent, but I can see how it could be misconstrued in the way you mentioned, and I see a huge double-standard, since it's apparently fine for men to be exposed to those risks.

Also, I resent being thought of only as a "wife and daughter." Yes, I'm a wife and a daughter, but I have an identity outside of my familial roles, and I contribute to society beyond the domestic sphere, thank you very much.

Not to Michelle Bachmann you don't.

I posted this on my facebook page and a dude actually commented that there was rationale for the statistic. Really. I know some loopy people, man.

2011-07-08 03:28:45 PM
Just guessing here, but wouldn't that statistic be true for any child born in 1860 vs. today?

One line sticks out "respect the marital bonds of others". So they are all for respecting polygamy fromo the Mormoms and also any legal gay marriages, right?

Good name for a punk rock band.

Once a man gets raped, he becomes a gay, and gays aren't people anyway, so it's fine.

2011-07-08 03:48:28 PM
never mind that those "marriages" were forced for breeding's sake. jesus christ on a farking popsicle stick. this woman is dangerously unhinged. and she's currently the leading republican candidate for president.

we are sooooo farked.

The Aristocrats Puritans!

2011-07-08 03:54:20 PM
Sorry but this is bullsh*t. As a conserv . . .I mean, libertarian, I believe gay marriage should be up to the states. Same with slavery.

They can have my porn when they pry it from my cold, sticky fingers.

I_C_Weener: Well, to be fair, slavery's arranged marriages and breeding did tend to last longer than most marriages today...even ones not from Hollywood.

You sure about that? I recall reading that in 1776 the average marriage length was only 7 years because that was the average length of time before one of the two died. I can't imagine slaves fared better than free men.

/yeah, i know. no source.

Thanks for this.

I find it odd that the last bullet basically undermines the previous ones by sheer hypocrisy. All of them restrict freedom, but the last one asks the candidate to support the 1st amendment rigorously. Who wrote this thing, a convoluted religious moron? Oh...

2011-07-08 03:59:24 PM
Sure it sounds insensitive, but they also said that Barack Obama speaks so well. Would a racist say that?

2011-07-08 03:59:35 PM
Santorum just signed this as well. I would love to see some news program go through this line by line to point out all the blatant lies, hypocracy, and racism that is just exuding from that whole document.

He's a drooling vegetable.

A child born into slavery in 1860 would not be raised in slavery.

2011-07-08 04:00:03 PM
I read that as "They were better off being slaves than under Obambi HOW'S THAT HOPE 'N' CHANGE WORKIN' OUT FOR YA"

2011-07-08 04:00:24 PM

FlashHarry: never mind that those "marriages" were forced for breeding's sake.

That's OK, since the vow also includes:

"Recognition that robust childbearing and reproduction is beneficial to U.S. demographic, economic, strategic, and actuarial health and security."

2011-07-08 04:01:01 PM
Sounds like Bachmann has been sucking on Michael Medved and Glenn Beck's "Slavery wasn't so bad" cocks. Probably at the same time.

I hope to Crom the b*tch never discovers Harry Turtledove's American "alternate history" books.

2011-07-08 04:01:34 PM

SkinnyHead: A child born into slavery in 1860 would not be raised in slavery.

AND he wouldn't have to know of your existence. Black children TOTALLY had it better in 1860!

No thing to see here, she probably just had a piece of paper thrust at her and she thought it was someone wanting an autograph

See? This is a perfect example of the reverse racism that white people face everyday. White people are the real victims here.

So, I'm guessing we'll not see any Lexington Steele/Michelle Bachmann good ol' fashioned interracial porn anytime soon?

2011-07-08 04:05:19 PM
of all the shiat they could say about a major US politician signing such a pledge in 2011 they choose to stoke the outrage fires with this?

"But that passage seems to suggest that maybe things actually were better for black Americans then."

No, it doesn't seem to suggest that at all.

2011-07-08 04:05:23 PM
where are the sane republicans to denounce this american taliban bullshiat? come on - there must be a few.

Hmm, that's a good point. They probably didn't mean it to include "robust childbearing and reproduction" among minorities, so I take it back, maybe they wouldn't be so keen on those forced slavery marriages after all.

Thoguh: Innocent fruit of conjugal intimacy

I am going to try and drop this into conversation on a regular basis.

FTA: Humane protection of women and the innocent fruit of conjugal intimacy - our next generation of American children - from human trafficking, sexual slavery, seduction into promiscuity, and all forms of pornography and prostitution, infanticide, abortion and other types of coercion or stolen innocence.
