Great article, reminds me of how good The Simpsons used to be.

I really fear that the greatness of The Simpsons seasons 2-10 are going to be lost on the younger generations.

Troy: Don't let the name throw you Jimmy. It's not really a floor,
it's more of a steel grating that allows material to sluice
through so it can be collected and exported.

Useless fact: It's because the laws require the networks to charge the same amount to their own affiliates as all other stations for episodes more than a few years ago.

EX: your local Fox affiliate can show reruns from last season at no extra charge, but they have to pay for something from Season 5. Your local indie stations can also get S5 episodes for the same price.

I did not know that, thanks. It's a damn shame that a lot of kids these days might not see the old episodes unless their older sibling has the DVDs or something.

Another fun fact: On a Simpsons commentary track, the producers said they were all geared up to do a live-action Troy McClure movie starting Hartman. One of those great things that could have been.

Lionel Hutz might be my favorite Simpsons character ever. I could fill a whole thread with his quotes.

"But your card says no money down!"
"What? Oh, they've got this all wrong." *scribbles on card* "See? 'Works on contingency? No, Money down!'"

"Bourbon...brownest of the brown liquors. What's that? You want me to drink you? But I'm in the middle of a trial!"

"I was just going through your garbage and could help but overhearing that you need a babysitter!"
"A dollar an hour and you get to eat a popsicle out of the fridge."
"Two popsicles."
"One."
"Fine, and I get to keep this birdcage I found!"
"Deal."
"Still got it."

"DON'T TOUCH MY STUFF! Wait a second...this isn't the YMCA."

My favorite episode was the red coat realty with Lionel Hutz as the owner. I can't find the link but it's when he's teaching her how to sell a house. He says...'You can tell the truth (shaking head', or the TRUTH! (Nodding head and smiling)

It was Phil's final episode too :-(

THE SIMPSONS BEGAN TO FALTER THE SECOND HARTMAN DIED

I believe he was the main reason the jokes were so amazing and memorable. I like to think he shot down crappy ideas that we now see in the current episodes that are driving long time fans away. His last episode aired posthumously in Season 10. The last "good" season (more episodes good than bad) was Season 9 (3-8 are the golden seasons, no one can argue that).
