...but as DeMolen was driving him to a hospital the man started saying he had been governor of Alabama. That's when DeMolen stepped on the gas.

Let's face it, who better than an Alaska resident to recognize cognitive deficit in a governor?

And FWIW, a buddy of mine was on the air ambulance that brought the Gov back to Sarasota. Also thinks the Gov is a nice guy.

I love the photo of him with no gear, helmet or eye protection.....

/helmets are mandatory in Alabama, but not eye protection
//the opposite in Alaska

I'm assuming from the picture that he thinks wearing a helmet violates his freedom to feel the wind blowing through his hair and the asphalt blowing through his cranium.

I don't climb on my Vespa without long jeans, jacket, helmet and gloves.

Now he has a head injury. Big surprise, eh?

idiots.

So he was going slower because he didn't think he was important? Nice....

Or he thought the man was delusional and the trauma may have been worse than they suspected.

And probably saved his life.

Interesting he would vote for a Republican based on a conversation while the guy was concussed. On second thought...

Has anyone mentioned how stupid it is to get on a bike without a helmet?

2011-07-07 12:32:57 PM
So... what happened to the bike?

Get well soon, guv.

(He was actually a pretty sensible and well-regarded chief executive. Kind of a fluke for Alabama.)

True. The only real mistake he made was appointing a complete moron as attorney general after Bill Pryor resigned to become a federal judge.

Smith visited Riley every day in the hospital until Friday. DeMolen said he is non-partisan politically but would vote for Riley "for president" based on their few hours together.
"He's a really nice man; we enjoyed visiting with him," she said.

And that's what's wrong with democracy granted as an unearned right.
