If a dumbass athlete and a beauty queen who "lost" an item she's been training all her life to acquire (plus several more) can't make it happen what chance is there for the rest of us?

Dude, she just wants your money and gifts. You're not part of the package.

If I had that kind of money I would never get married, every female you meet during that time is just a gold digger.

I am in Roy Williams hometown of Odessa Texas right now.

If he brought his runaway bride here to meet his folks then I cant blame her for running off

I was at Texas the same time as Roy, and I swear to god I thought he was gay. He would have saved some dough, anyway...

So, who buys the BS story from the father? I mean, if the insurance company got involved, then at some point Williams was told the ring was lost - and the girl's family was forced to tell the insurance company that they still had it, but then said it was a gift. The insurance company, happy it wasn't a loss, said "it's between the two of you" and bowed out.

Seriously, just return the ring to Williams. It's women like this that make folks buy even less into the idea of marriage.

She looks a little bizarre in her photos. I thought Miss Texas would be hotter.

Something I've never understood. Celebrities/pro athletes getting married at a young age. Especially to models/beauty pageant types. Yeah she's beautiful but like someone said above she's been training her whole life to get that Mrs degree. They have an even higher chance of getting divorced than the average couple. Especially since a lot of these guys don't know how to quit farking everything that moves (see Tiger Woods). So why not just continue living the bachelor life for a while longer? Not like any of them are hurting for companionship and they have a lot to lose if things go sour.

i cant believe there are still women out there who think they get to keep the ring when they say no.

even if you say yes .. and then 6 months later you break up. Guess what ladies, the ring goes back to the guy. And the court WILL make it happen. And if she "lost" it.. she will just have to replace the value to Mr Williams. OH look the ring was suddenly found.

Do you remember when people thought Troy Aikman and Steve Young might be gay because they weren't married? Well, they were smart and playing the bachelor game (And I don't care if Steve is mormon, I think he was playing the game). Why the hell would you want to get married now??? (I'm looking at you Romo and Brady - learn from your elders).

Actually you legally have to return an engagement ring if she doesn't marry you. It's a gift conditioned on marriage.

It's a business decision. You want the really good sponsorships? Having a hot piece of eye-candy on your arm and projecting a family-friendly attitude helps a lot. Now, I don't think this business decision actually originates at the sports figure. I'm not saying that they're dumb, but they're generally not prized for their Machiavellian business sense. Agents on the other hand...

She turned him down. Someone needs to explain the gold digger strategy to her.

Shouldn't happen but it does all the time in reality.

Actually, it's a gift conditioned upon sex. In the event a chaste girl had premarital relations with her supposed husband to be, who then subsequently refused to marry her, ruining her, she and her family kept the ring as compensation. That's also why the man gives it to the woman. And I'm pretty sure courts don't give a shiat about "conditions" attached to gifts. Particularly, implied, unwritten, unverbalized conditions.

So what I have learned from this is:
1. Roy Williams can't close the deal
a) Even as an NFL Starter
b) With the accoutraments of his lifestyle
c) With an additional $70K in hardware
2. Maybe the only Cowboy of his era to be interviewed on NFL Network's Missing Rings

Happens to me all the time buddy. I liked my headline better: Cowboys are now losing rings!

He MAILED her an engagement ring? Really? Wow, I bet his proposal was really personal. Did he also include a note saying "Will you be my wife? Checkbox Yes/No?

xdedd: Did he also include a note saying "Will you be my wife? Checkbox Yes/No?

I think he used a scale:
1 - Yes!
2 - Probably
3 - Maybe
4 - Not likely
5 - Aww, hell no!
