I'm late, so I hurriedly dash.
Then suddenly, I see a flash.
They send me a snap:
My car in their trap.
I send back a photo of cash.

Maxx thought that his fine was so tough
that he stomped to the mail in a huff.
He mailed them some cash --
that he shot with a flash --
and they mailed back a photo of cuffs.

Shipley said the man tapped on the rear window with a hammer before yelling incoherently and then striking the windshield with the hammer.

I can only hope that he yelled whatever the hell Raiden yelled when he did the Torpedo Dive in Mortal Kombat.

Slowed traffic on the BWP? How can they tell? Did traffic start flowing backwards?

So the camera vehicles don't actually start and move? "He had a shotgun and was hitting the vehicle. I sat there so scared, just wishing the vehicle worked"

Where's the "hero" tag?

2011-07-06 07:25:41 PM
Strange, the HERO tag feels a bit more appropriate.

What is a speed enforcement vehicle and what does it look like?

/no pictures in article.

2011-07-06 07:41:05 PM
Well, of course it slowed traffic.

It's really hard to drive when you're applauding.

2011-07-06 07:42:18 PM
An old man with a hammer runs out of the woods, smashes the window of a parked jeep, and then runs away (presumably back into the woods). And someone thought that the proper response was to shut down a major farking interstate for several hours?? Someone needs to stop playing LEO and go bus some tables for a while.

2011-07-06 07:43:59 PM
This did more to slow traffic than all the cameras in the whole damn state.

2011-07-06 07:44:25 PM
Doesn't seem ironic to me at all. The point of those cameras is to reduce speeding. So in this case they seem to be working.

2011-07-06 07:44:25 PM
50 cops to find one old man with a hammer. Sounds about right. 10 to 1 they don't find him. Excuse: We needed more officers on the scene.

FTFA:

Julie Meddows, 37, an employee at the Westin Hotel near the command post, said she went out to develop some photos but ran into a police blockade when she returned to work. As she stood with co-workers by the side of Winterson Road, she said she was worried when she heard the news.

Meddows, who said she works in social media, was eager to get on Twitter to pass on news of the incident.

"I need to be tweeting about this," she said. "We want our guests to be sure they're safe inside the hotel."

Julie Meddows, you fail at life. You're the reason we have the TSA. You're the reason we don't have lawn darts anymore. You're the reason all the cool playgrounds have been torn down. You're the reason guys who pee on dumpsters are registered as sex offenders. You don't NEED to Tweet ANYTHING because nobody was so terrified by this incident that they were afraid to leave your crappy hotel.

In short, your scared-shiatless attitude towards the world is why America has been reduced to a quivering pile of Jell-O that's afraid of its own shadow.

The dude who attacked the speed camera? That's America. Stand up to intrusive government, consequences be damned.

Also, who the fark still takes photos to be developed, anyway?

HAHAHAHAHAHA

I always heard it as "HI BOB AND LEE!" or "HI BOBOLI!"

He was either being really friendly or pimping out his favorite pizza crust.

Raiden's ALWAYS about clever product placement like that.

That was my first thought, too, but then I reread and realized there was a crazy man with a shotgun in the woods just off the highway.

If a passing motorist got peppered in the face with lead pellets like a Dick Cheney party guest, a lot of people would be screaming bloody murder.

2011-07-06 07:46:38 PM
If they find him (which they probably won't because that's too much like actual work), I'd like to donate to his defense.

I like that interpretation, actually.

FTFA Shipley described the suspect as white, about 65 years old, with white hair, standing 5-foot-8 and weighing 150 pounds. He said the man was wearing a black and red shirt, possibly flannel, and blue jeans.

Not only are you a racist, but you're an idiot. That's the main road leading to BWI airport, and unless you're claiming that black people take airplanes more than white people, you're even dumber than I thought. For local traffic, the road goes between Glen Burnie (a majority white area) to Catonsville (another majority white area). Students at UMBC also take that road, and that isn't what I'd call a black college.

So, WTF are you on about, bigot?

2011-07-06 07:50:53 PM
Allow me to correct myself, the article said "just north" of 195, not "on" 195. 195 is the airport road, and the BW parkway isn't far from the airport. So, most of what I said still stands.

We can all agree that the last syllable is DEFINITELY drawn out.

Speed cameras are a result of fear of taxes.I know taxes are bad, but hear me out.

We have private corporates take a huge cut of each ticket, sometimes the city may only get as low as 3%. There may also be state, county and federal being cut in.

And private corporations set up the equipment where they may keep 60% of the cut, verses a flat fee for setting it up.

This is a mafia moneymaking scheme. Setup a system that feeds upon increments of corruption, and make sure those that might get in the way are paid off or immune.

If everyone paid a few more pennies of tax on a gallon of gas, it would probably be more fair and cheaper for everyone. There wouldn't three lanes of highway where people are scared to go more 5mph over the limit jamming up traffic for everyone.

And people would not be paying opportunistic fines that mostly go to a corporation.

+1 QFT to JerkStore.

Apparently since Northrop-Grumman is in the area they sent out NSA cars too. For an old coot who ambled down the mountains to trash a speed trap.
