They found that in an automated atm machine? Wow.

I'm sure subby is aware that they sell these as novelty items. It's fun to use them as "scrap paper" to jot down quick notes that you hand to other people.

The dude went to the ATM again?

There are only a couple of reasons why a person with that much money needs to withdraw $400 at night, neither are legal.

The ATM receipts at Wawa (like 7-11 in the mid-Atlantic US) have coupons printed on the opposite side for things like $0.50 off a cup of coffee. However, the ATM side of the slip of paper also shows your bank balance. I wonder how many people are stupid enough to hand over those coupons to presumably low-paid employees and risk getting mugged later in the day?

Why is it considered irresponsible to leave $100 million in a savings account?

Speak for yourself....

The banks around here don't print your account balance on anything unless they check your ID. Otherwise it just shows the transaction and that's it.

This is stupid anyway. Anybody could print a receipt showing anything. Is there a font that could print "dot matrix" style lettering with a laser printer? That'd be fun.

savings accounts have a terrible rate of return. If you have that much money, it should be in an investment of some sort- stocks, bonds, annuities, etc.

Probably because the only way it could earn less money would be buried in your backyard.

It wouldn't be insured (ie. if the bank collapsed you could lose everything). The interest rates suck. Etc. Unless you're going to be spending it very shortly it's better to lock that type of stuff up in investments/CD's/bonds/whatever depending on how risk adverse you are. A savings account would be stupid... Then again, maybe they spend 100 mil on a weekend, I dunno.

Unless it's a corporate checking account. Demand deposits have unlimited FDIC insurance until end of 2012.

I believe the FDIC insures it up to $100k. So at least 0.1% of that $100 mil will be insured by the government.

Trickle down economics at work here folks, $400 at a time.

He must be hiring those 'workers' they promised when we gave them $700 billion dollar bailout. To bad the workers come from the home depot parking lot.

We must stop charging the real producers of our economy such ridiculous ATM fees. They create jobs and these fees simply encourage them to take their money out of the country and stop employing Americans. We need a reverse progressive ATM tax system since the poor benefit more from the programs offered to them than the wealthy.

This article reminds me of the time I bought a "2 TB" external hard drive. It was big, but it wasn't quite what was advertised.

And yet both, as moral, economic and practical matters, should be.
