Yet somehow he won't be charged in this.

Anyone else amused that we have an article about an abusive cop written by a guy named Pinkerton?

he should have been more focused on the other competitors trying to pass off 5 alarm chili as 2, 3 alarm at best chili.

On one hand, the idea of it is kinda funny

On the other hand,

Christ! What the hell was he thinkin'?

Obviously this is a case of reality not meshing with fantasy, so yeah, it's time to go.

Well, in the cop's defense, the victim did think he was the Pope of chilitown.

at the rodeo?

what was there no rope to string him up with ?

That's ridiculous. He was obviously just chopping really strong onions. The rival obviously just made up the tear gas story to get the guy disqualified/fired.

I Chop Your Dollars: He should have been chucked in PMITA prison. The prosecutor just didn't have the beans.

You're kidding, right?

Back in the 70's, this would have been thought of as hilarious and a good prank.

People have completely lost their sense of humor.

//should have moved the gimps first though.

Iniamyen1: Good one subby, I get chili and barbecue mixed up all the time too.

And roughly 30,000 people in the area, the officer is lucky he didn't start a stampeed.

THIS. This guy gets the offer to go ahead and retire. He should be charged for assault at the very least. Then there's the improper use of government property, release of dangerous chemicals... all stuff that would wind the average citizen on the no fly list/prison.

T-Luv: Warriors Warriors Warriors: This asshole probably thought that would be real funny.

How funny is it now, dipshiat?

Still just as funny, but with added consequences!

Yeah, severe consequences... he gets to retire EARLIER - with his police pension. How farking tragic.

Ned: "He's right, It's not '5 alarm' chili! I just wanted to look like a big man in front of my kids! It's 2, 2 and a half, tops!"
Rod: "Are we going to Hell, daddy?
Ned: "We'll see, Rod. We'll see...

As a steelworker whose union is days from a possible strike, I am not amused by Pinkerton.

Whoa, whoa, wait a minute. You mean a police officer is actually punished for being a douchebag and assaulting someone?

Dear God, what sort of wierd alternate reality have I woken up in?!

Relax, he wasn't. He was asked to retire earlier a little than planned - and he's going to receive his pension. So, basically, he was rewarded.

With the full support of his union.

You want to know why we don't trust the cops? It's simple - they can do this sort of shiat and get away with it, with the rest of the cops backing them up all the way. Any time a cop does something wrong, no matter how trivial, you're now looking at a blue wall of assholes going "yeah - now, what are you gonna do about it?"

So... what would happen if one of us mundanes had just tossed a tear gas canister into an occupied tent? All sorts of weapons, assault, and terrorism charges I figure. This would then lead to decades in prison.

Cop gets a kind of fake punishment... he gets to retire... that is get paid for not working.

Houston cop. Picking on those who can't defend themselves. I hope the other people get his pension, and the gold out of his teeth, forcibly removed from his anus.
Worse than a Houston cop assaulting the disabled? I don't know what's worse, but it's pretty near the bottom. I'm fairly sure if the cop were the disabled one, the HPD would be piling a shiatload of charges.

Please- someone save Houston from itself. Please.
