Wasn't the nurse who did almost the same thing (except she made it home and left the guy in the windshield) also in Texas?

No kidding. I wouldn't even park on the shoulder on 45 much less try to run across it. If I get a flat I'm exiting to a parking lot. I've seen 2 people die in front of me on that highway and heard about so many more.

Also, How do you NOT SEE A BODY IN THE CAR WITH YOU? Guy was either beyond wasted or completely retarded.

I am guessing the pedestrian hit was an illegal. Therefor not a human. Not illegal to kill bugs is it?

I think he was just drunk enough to think the cop might buy his ridiculous story.

I was going to post something similar, but you summed it up nicely. I would also apply this logic to I-10 and 290.

Again, you don't understand...the bugs get REALLY BIG here. I replace a windshield at least once a month.

Police said Onak told the deputy he had hit something on the freeway and that he didn't know the victim was in the passenger seat beside him.

I dunno officer. We hit something and suddenly the wife stopped her yapping and started looking better.

Yup

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chante_Jawan_Mallard - He would have lived had she taken him to the hospital. Instead it took him 2 days to bleed out in her garage. She got 50 years in prison.

She's one sick individual to boot.

From Wikipedia - Mallard became a suspect after she was reported talking and laughing about the incident at a party some four months after the events. "I hit this white man," Mallard allegedly told acquaintance Maranda Daniel, laughing.

Seen a few nasty ones on the Eastex on the north side but I'm sure it's nothing compared to 10, 45 and 290 in rush hour. Living in Houston and having a 15 minute commute is pretty sweet.

Remember, this is Texas. Wasted, retarded or just plain stupid, what's the difference? Dumbasses on all sides here, included "corpse-bug-passenger" who thought it would be simple to cross a freeway on foot

Police came to a friends door one night told her that, "A man was hit crossing I-45 a few hours ago and you where one of the three people that ran him over".
She thought it was a dead dog and didn't think much about it until she found out it was a man. Then the nightmares began. The Law did not charge her for anything. They where just closeing the investigation.

Retail value on her car dropped just a tad I believe.

A Texan farmer goes to Australia for a vacation. There he meets an Aussie farmer and gets talking. The Aussie shows off his big wheat field and the Texan says, "Oh! We have wheat fields that are at least twice as large." Then they walk around the ranch a little, and the Aussie shows off his herd of cattle. The Texan immediately says, "We have longhorns that are at least twice as large as your cows." The conversation has, meanwhile, almost died when the Texan sees a herd of kangaroos hopping through the field. He asks, "And what are those?" The Aussie replies with an incredulous look, "Don't you have any grasshoppers in Texas?"

I drove I-45 southeast of Houston regularly one summer a long time ago. Three lanes of packed traffic were still moving 70 mph. Great for getting from point A to point B. It would have been hard for a pedestrian to get far enough into the road to go through a windshield.

What time of the day? At rush hour and most of the weekend the freeway is dead locked from North Houston to Clear Lake.

Friday I entered I-15 from Woodlands Parkway at 9:30 AM for a meeting in Galveston. It took three hours to go the 75 miles. AT 9:30 AM! Where the hell were all these people going at 9:30 AM? Obviously to Galveston.

If you're referring to Chante Mallard, then yes, it was in Texas, Fort Worth to be exact. However, she wasn't a nurse, but a nurse's aide. She got a 50 year prison sentence too. Chante Jawan Mallard

I hate it when those stupid pedestrians come flying through the windshield.

He should have told the cop he was rushing the victim to the nearest hospital. Works for me.

Yes and it was hours before the man died. He had begged her to call for help but she wouldn't do it because the biatch was farked up on ecstacy.

I spent summer of 1986 near Clear Lake City, where they were still bitter over the annexation a few years earlier. Do check a more recent decade's traffic reports before counting on a high speed journey from inside the loop to Clear Lake.

More what I was thinking. He was probably completely wasted, but even then it is hard to believe that you would not notice a guy smashing through your windshield at 70mph and dying in the seat next to you.
