Wait... Blaming the parents not something else ....this might force people to actually take responsibility for their crotch fruit.

Seriously if 11 years of teaching high school has taught me anything if you want to know why a kid is screwed up talk to the parent for 5 min and you will think the kid is normal by comparison.

He was 'alarmed' at the number of adults who bought violent video games and played them with their children.

Yes, it's the end of the Empire when Parents start actually, yanno, taking an interest in their childrens' interests and something resembling an active supervisory role. We wouldn't want that at all.

Unsupervised playing of violent games is clearly the better way to go. Why buy a game like that and play it with your kid when you can buy it for him and turn a blind eye, after all?

Is the pure cane sugar they're brushing their teeth with over there rotting their brains or something?

Many parents either turn a blind eye or actively encourage the sexualisation of their children, claims the author of a government report into childhood.

Many parents aren't any good at being parents. Goddamn, thank the heavens the British government has finally figured it out.

Surely, this bad parenting must be the impetus behind thousands of years of rampant imperialism. And having to watch the populace via millions of closed circuit cameras. Lots of bad parents out there.

El Ojo: So, teenagers never got knocked up until Facebook, Grand Theft Auto, and Limited Too came along? My family has a long line of hillbilly ancestors who beg to differ.

You're 100% correct.

If all of American society(adults) is slowly shedding its clothing, then I don't see why their offspring are going to raised any differently. The thing is, it really isn't a bad thing like it's made out to be. I mean, somehow humanity survived when everyone was walking around nude or in loincloths.

The study, Letting Children be Children, has led to a pledge from High St stores to stop selling 'sexy' underwear to children and a promise from watchdog Ofcom to tighten up the use of sexual images before the broadcast watershed.

Ofcom. Looks like the British version of the Farkin' Censorship Committee.

FTA~
Focus groups for Credos, a think tank which advises the advertising industry, found that 80-90 percent of under 13s were signed up.

Considering that under 13 includes ages down to 0, so half of the children under 13 are 6 and under and can't even read. I wouldn't put too much credence in 80-90% of that age group being on FB.

Seems like hitting puberty was the right time to start farking right up till the Industrial age.
Of course a valid point can be made that they should wait. They probably aren't financially prepared but the line that is often given is:"While your body might be physically ready you are not mature enough intellectually or emotionally". Makes perfect sense. But then isn't it a bit contradictory to impede their learning of adult things and ideas? Then the argument gets flipped. "They grow up so fast. Let them have time to be children". Wait wat? Whose interest is that really serving?

/Think of the children

Okay, look. I don't want kids, I don't have kids.

But I see something terribly wrong with little girls shorter than my hip height (I'm 5'2", folks) running around in halter dresses and sometimes even makeup as their normal wear. Children and prepubescents should NOT dress like late teens/adults. They want to? Don't buy the clothes. Fake outfits for dressup play is one thing but day to day wear? Jeans and a t shirt, GTFO outside and play for god's sake..

Because it's clearly the lack of child battery that causes children to go wrong.

They're still getting worked up about Grand Theft Auto: Vice City? That game is nearly 10 years old.

And to be fair, it isn't only prostitutes you can kill with a chainsaw. You can kill other random pedestrians with a chainsaw too. But people really get riled up about the prostitutes.

I should have been a rapist because my father let me browse his Playboy magazine before he did from as early as 5. He had to inoculate me against being gay, since I had to carry the family name. He was worried because I used to play Barbies with my sister. Little did he know we staged orgies with He-Man figurines.

My sister and I would also stay up late watching Skinemax. The French porn was the best, they were surreal comedies that crippled us with laughter from their absurdity.

That's a funny statement, because reality allows gangsters (anyone) to run over prostitutes. You just then get chased after by police. Which is exactly what happens in Grand Theft Auto, except the cops actively try to kill you in GTA.

Oh_Enough_Already: When Suzy Speculum, the 15 year old webcam star can have sex with half the football team and half the cheer-leading squad with no legal consequences whatsoever but somehow becomes a "victim" when she sleeps with her 22 year old neighbor, there's something rotten in Denmark and it isn't just her yeast infection.

There has to be some limit otherwise grown men will be going after 6 year olds. And whatever limit is chosen, there will be examples of sluts younger than that age. I have a 13 year old daughter. Some of the girls her age are already sluts. Some are still spending their time catching frogs and riding bikes. There shouldn't be open season on the innocent ones just because some of the girls the same age are loose.

Yes, because video games and facebook are the only sources of smut available to a kid. Books are always okay, and never have any kind of questionable material. Just ask Lot, who saved his kids from death but then was raped by them. (new window) Skanky children in the Bible? Apparently facebook has been around a lot longer than any of us could have imaged.

Video games are the 21st century's platform to tell a story; is it that shocking if the story is every bit as gory and sexual as Homer's poems?

/If Alexandre Dumas knew how to program, he would have made video games instead of books

His criticism came as it emerged that hundreds of thousands of children under 13 are using Facebook with their parents' apparent blessing.

Focus groups for Credos, a think tank which advises the advertising industry, found that 80-90 percent of under 13s were signed up. Director Karen Fraser said: 'Parents have told us they don't want their children to miss out. They don't want to restrict their social life.'

I dunno what to think about the article's "omg - think of the childrens!" tone re: early sexualization because once you hit 14 you will definitely be thinking about sex most of the time. I know I was. It's normal. I also don't give a shiat about 13-year-olds playing GTA. I think most people can tell the difference between fantasy and reality. That being said, who the hell needs Facebook when they are 11? or 10? or 12?

It was weird growing up in the dot-com boom. The internet was 'cool' but still a novelty when I was 12 (2000). I remember having to supply my university e-mail address to join Facebook. I couldn't even imagine being in 6th grade and having my classmates own cell phones. What the fark do you need a cell phone for? Maybe once you hit 14, sure, to keep track of all the poonan. But at 10 or 11? Blargh.

If I was doing it as a high school science project, the teacher would force me to name it something like "The effect of graphic media on young people" and certainly avoid a title with a political and emotional tinge to it.
