The best part was when the things blow'd up.

But he came in under budget, and that's all that matters.

And that was just for fun, not for the movie.

Whew, that's a relief. I was worried Bay was going to cut out the scene with the explosion.

2011-06-24 07:57:24 PM
Damn, I took the over at 540.

2011-06-24 07:58:56 PM
Were 250 of them Skids and Mudflap? Because that I'd pay to see.

2011-06-24 08:00:11 PM
Saw the first one in theaters, skipped the second. The fact that the last 40-odd minutes of this movie are an unbroken "destruction of Chicago by giant robots" sequence might get me back in the theater for this outing.

That's actually kind of cool.

/ Likes explosions.

Thank you, Michael Bay, for keeping the American automobile industry alive.

Explosions aside, I like the way that Bay can really flesh-out the characters. He's got a directorial sublety on the level of Cassavetes. Of course, the skill of the actors plays a large part in this. I'd like to see him do a drama, something like Howard's End or Dogville.

2011-06-24 08:12:32 PM
Only 532? Seems a bit low for him.

It's a movie about giant robots tearing the hell out of Chicago (and probably John Turturro chewing the hell out of some scenery). I'm sure as hell not going to see it to watch Sam Witwicky grow as a person.

Bay has gone too Hollywood for my tastes. Sure this movie has explosions, but it lacks the passion and depth of his student films.

And this was without $200 million and Spielberg's help. Farking sellout.

At least they used real buildings and real vehicles back then. You do realize that "Michael Bay blew up 532 cars while filming Transformers 3" means 532 cartoon CGI cars right ?

And to this day, Bay won't release "Turner Diaries and Hooch" to DVD. Guess he doesn't want people to know he can do better without CGI.

Yeah, no amount of explosions can make up for a lack of Megan Fox.

That's in the first reel, right?

Already have my ticket. I suspect I may as well move into the IMAX theater for a while.

It would leave you at the altar because it ran out of gas. It, it had a flat tire. It didn't have enough money for cab fare. Its tux didn't come back from the cleaners. An old friend came in from out of town. Someone stole its car. There was an earthquake. A terrible flood! Locusts! IT WASN'T THE MOVIE'S FAULT IT SWEARS TO GOOOD!

I hope Turturro chewing some scenery doesn't involve him in a thong again.

Maybe they should have used cash for clunker cars in the shoot. The Tea Party would be less hostile if they knew the program meant more 'splosions for them to watch.

The previous movies had more of the latter than the former. Why do people keep forgetting this?

Next time, he needs to be in one of them.

He could earn a hero tag.

Most of the good movies I've seen have no cars blow up in them.

2011-06-25 08:24:19 AM
Blew up 532 props.
It is not like they drive to the car lot, buy 532 brand new cars and blow them up.

Similar for me. I know it's not going to be a good movie, but I'll end up going anyway to see part of my own city (Milwaukee) get all explosiony.

FTFA:Director Michael Bay destroyed 532 cars during the filming of his latest "Transformers" blockbuster, all of which were donated to the movie after suffering flood damage.

The robot franchise features many scenes of destruction and Bay has revealed he is supplied with hundreds of faulty cars which are rescued from the crusher to be blown to bits on his film set instead.

He tells Reuters, "These are cars that are flood damaged. Car companies give them to us because by law they have to be crushed, so I am the perfect guy to do that."

Are you saying that lots of things were blown up in this movie?

I hate people who give the plot away and ruin the movie for everyone else...

You can tell how terrible an actress she is just from that picture, it's amazing.

That's actually awesome.

There really is a difference between live action and CGI.

2011-06-27 06:42:43 AM
I saw a trailer for this in the theater on Saturday. It still doesn't look like a Transformers movie.. too many humans in it.
