New...shiat...has come to light, man!

If I had just won 65 million dollars, the last thing I'd want to do is go back to court. I'd just live out the rest of my life in a holodeck.

If nothing else, these two spoiled yuppy dorks are persistent.

They were already rich. The $65 Million doesn't mean as much to them.

They were born into wealth. It's not like the money really matters to them anymore.

I think if you were rich your entire life, you'd eventually get bored of whacking off and driving fast cars. I don't know how long that would take. Me, personally? Probably 75 years. But I'm strange.

That's a drop in the bucket compared to their father's worth, and compared to what Zuckerberg is worth. If the film was accurate, Zuck farked them over royally and I'd spend the rest of my days making his life suck as much as possible.

I have a hard time mustering any sympathy for a set of rich, Olympic athlete twins who also went to Harvard.

You won the lottery when you were born, quitcher biatching

Had these guys been in charge they wouldn't have evn gotten what they got. Their plan called for this to be at most rolled out to select, top-tier, schools. Zuckerburg was the one who figured out that that would make it attractive to people at other schools, and that as those people graduated it would be good to open it up to the alumini and finally to the public.

With that in mind, $65 Million is more than fair.

This, very much this. All the people who say how they are losers and whiners and so forth are not likely to plebes they won't encounter in the country club. The cost of the litigation is meaningless compared to the potential payoff, and even with no payoff, they can afford spiteful losing litigation anyway.

Jesus, these guys need to learn to let go. They lost. Game over.

Read the Wikipedia entry on the Winklevos twins. They are men of integrity. They got kicked out of a Charles River boathouse for not paying rent, and one got drunk and aatacked the other with a hammer. They apparently keep themselves busy by suing people - Zuckerberg is just one of their targets.

They will probably try and sue wikipedia for making them look bad.

FTA: "Olympic rowing twins Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss are pushing ahead with another suit against Facebook, a day after they decided not to appeal a U.S. Supreme Court ruling upholding their $65 million settlement with Facebook and its founder Mark Zuckerberg."

There is no appeal from the U.S. Supreme Court. That's kind of what makes it Supreme.

I hope they are sanctioned for a few million for keeping this nonsense going.

/You lost get over it, move on and invent something else if you're so smart.

That's just an opinion...

If Zuck had done what wanted they'd be a couple of unknowns and somebody else would be as big as Facebook is.

They were both right.

Restricting access to elite university students at the beginning was a brilliant way to make sure growth in traffic happened at a controlled, manageable rate, and that the users it attracted were generally intelligent and literate.

Opening it up to a larger audience after the community became self-sustaining was a commercial no-brainer.

Facebook may suck now, but it's still miles beyond Bebo or Orkut or 4chan in content quality.

Yes, these two are spoiled dicks and have a pluralized last name that sounds like a parasite from Star Wars. However, they got screwed over by another dick who probably has Asperger's, as he was portrayed in the movie.

This is what annoyed me when I watched the movie.

Basically they had an idea, and not an original idea at that. They wanted to copy Myspace but make it elite by restricting it to harvard (or later other elite schools) Their problem was that they had no way to actually do it. They had no knowledge of computer programming. What they brought to the venture was basically their name alone, nothing else.

Sure Zuck copied their idea, but that didn't stop them from making their own site (which they did and it failed miserably)

The movie tried to say that facebook only succeeded because it got to the market first. That is bull, facebook was beaten by myspace, friendster and a host of others. Facebook succeeded because of its execution, not due to the original idea.

Just like Google came after Yahoo, Altavista, etc.

They didn't even deserve the 65 mil.

Hard to compare FB to 4chan. Facebook's where my mom posts pictures. 4chan is where your mom posts pictures.

Seriously though, 4chan is meme ground zero. The black, poisonous heart at the center of the Internet. Not exactly the kind of content you can turn into a billion dollar business though.

When you say did nothing to implement it, I assume you mean other than to hire and pay a guy to design the web site based on their idea. A guy who then lied for months as he took their idea and used it to become one of the richest people in the country.

Here's the billion dollar question. If the twins had not hired him to design and build their site, would he have ever created Facebook? They deserve a hell of a lot more than $65 million. Maybe closer to $65 billion.

I'm sorry, despite what I saw in the movie, I think the Winklevii are right:

The instant messages in question were uncovered by Facebook's legal team when it searched Zuckerberg's computer. In 2010, some of the instant messages were leaked to the news site Silicon Alley Insider. They popped up again in a profile of Zuckerberg in the New Yorker magazine in October before the release of "The Social Network."

In one instant message exchange, Zuckerberg outlined to a friend what he planned to do about Harvard Connect, then the name of the Winklevosses' website. "I'm going to [expletive] them," he wrote. In another, he said of the Winklevosses: "They made a mistake haha. They asked me to make it for them. So I'm like delaying it so it won't be ready until after the Facebook thing comes out."

Bottom line is: if you have a brilliant idea and no aptitude to pull it off, make whomever you get to help you sign a legal notarized agreement that a third party lawyer can review that clears all that shiat up at the outset. It saves everybody a whole lot of trouble later on.

Um, why? If an idea is that earth shattering and unique, you get a patent for it. In any case, the idea was hardly all that original. myspace and friendster were already out there. The Winklevi put a slightly different spin on an already existing product. They maybe spent a couple afternoon's worth of thought on their venture. Zuckerberg logged over a thousand hours. On that basis alone, even though he's a first class jerk, Zuckerberg deserves the lion's share for the fruit of his labors.

"You know, you really don't need a forensics team to get to the bottom of this. If you guys were the inventors of Facebook, you'd have invented Facebook." - Mark Zuckerberg
