In the last town I lived in we caught a 13 year old kid breaking into the neighbours house. Held onto him until the cops turned up, but he just didn't care. Had gloves and a little mag light and everything - no doubt he was set up by the gangs there, and no doubt he was back into it as soon as he was able.

Well you know.....my buddy knew at age 8 that he wanted to be a dentist. Had a career day at school and BAM.....wanted to be a dentist. He's successful to this day. This kid is no different.....Daddy is probably a low life scumbag son of a biatch welfare sucking leech drug addict mommy beating uneducated thief cheating bastard and junior here wants to follow in his footsteps. Hey I give him credit for sticking to his guns (that'll surely be a pun in the future)...

This. The message the courts need to get through to this kid is: You're not cut out for a life of crime.

We tend to emphasize that you'll be punished if you're caught. What we should more frequently emphasize is that, odds are, you're not smart enough to get away with it.

Nobody fears the penalty if they can convince themselves they won't get caught.

This is how I make money. I employ 10yr olds to steal things for me. once they get caught twice though, I give them the boot, too much heat.

Caning. Preferably in public. If kids knew that if they got caught hoodluming around they'd get beat so hard they wouldn't be able to sit for a month, not to mention having all their friends watch them get their ass beat might motivate them not to do bad things.

Is it really fair that other people have nice stuff and he doesn't? It's not his fault his parents don't work hard and aren't rich like other kids' parents who probably inherited their wealth anyway.
