2003-08-27 04:55:51 PM
Yeah, but they have to live in Nebraska.

(actually, I like it out there)

This sure would have helped at Wittenberg!

2003-08-27 04:56:20 PM
I always ended up selling my books back for beer money.

2003-08-27 04:56:24 PM
great. drunk blonde Lutheran (they're all Lutheran in the corn-belt) girls.... wait a second!

2003-08-27 04:56:41 PM
just beer?

2003-08-27 04:57:06 PM
One beer is hardly "high risk". With the price of textbooks today I think a free 5th is more appropriate.

2003-08-27 04:57:17 PM
1 beer or $2 off wings? I'll go for the Guiness.

2003-08-27 04:57:32 PM
Why? Id get a far better del with free books with beer.

2003-08-27 04:58:57 PM
"they're all Lutheran in the corn-belt"

Actually there are a ton of Catholics in Nebraska, especially around Omaha where they are the majority I believe(could be wrong about that though).

2003-08-27 04:59:01 PM
I posted this 2 hours ago with a MUCH better tag line!

2003-08-27 04:59:08 PM

2003-08-27 05:05:39 PM
This would require me stepping foot in Nebraska again. Oh no, you are not going to get me to fall for that little trick.

Finally! Some incentive to wasting $400/semester on books that you only get $20 back for...

/disgruntled college student

2003-08-27 05:20:47 PM
BrewCityQueen...
Gezz! $400 was a good semester for me!
$90 for 28 pages was my record for biggest rip-off

2003-08-27 05:25:08 PM
Ahhh, but they LOOK Lutheran!

//snickers, runs and hides

2003-08-27 05:27:06 PM

2003-08-27 05:36:15 PM

2003-08-27 05:36:42 PM
how about giving the free beer after they write a book report??? it would be nice if people starting reading again.

2003-08-27 05:38:26 PM
This Lincolnite wants her free beer coupon for simply existing in this city...

2003-08-27 05:43:55 PM
"I have heard from a lot of very satisfied customers," Bills said.

Well obviously...

2003-08-27 05:51:24 PM
WHAT'S WITH THE NEBRASKA POSTS??? There were none, and then there were 3 within 2 days. It's a conspiracy, I tell ya.

And yes Jameswax, Nebraskans do have that certain "look," don't they? I know I'm not the only one who thinks that. Every time I meet someone that tells me later they're from Nebraska, I say, "Ohhhhh yeah! It's a wonder I didn't see it before!" Something to do with subtle eye-shape and skin tone...

And I wonder, do all Texans look alike? 'Cause I don't think we do. We compensate by talking alike.

2003-08-27 05:53:39 PM
UNO Rocks. It's all about the free crappy food line!

2003-08-27 06:39:49 PM
I wish they'd do that here at CU.

Oh wait, I don't have to get a coupon to have a free beer at a bar.

2003-08-27 06:52:02 PM
One of the "powers that be" must be a Nebraskan since there are so many posts about that state now AND because EVERY post I made ridiculing the state I live in (Nebraska) has been removed and I have been temporarilly banned.

Thus......

EVERYTHING regarding Nebraska is wonderful and makes tears well up in my eyes out of love for the state and its people

/scarcastic???

2003-08-27 06:54:51 PM
First, most beer here is about $2 anyway (except the guiness) so $2 off wings might be a better deal if you go during happy hour (which is usually 2 or 3 hours long out here)

Secondly, I'm not Lutheran, in fact I don't even know any

Third, I live here and so must say there are several "looks" which allow Nebraskanites to tell what social class their neighbor falls into, however none of them really look like any of the other for an overall "look". Example: Dark-red-dry skin and a seed cap = farmer, pale skin and a T-shirt with any questionable content = inner city youth (by which I mean Lincoln or Omaha which really don't count as their combined population is barely 750,000)

As for Neb. book store, I used to work for them. The University bookstore has been taken over by Follet, which has bigger buying power, more staff, etc. NE bookstore is just trying anything they can to keep ahead of the rest, or at least head above water.

Lastly, yes there is a conspiracy. We're coming out this year and we're not taking any prisoners.

PS don't move here, we're 48th in tourism with only 2 million people and we like it like that. Clean air, cheap rent and I don't have to lock my car at night. . .

2003-08-27 08:51:55 PM
If I were you I would stay away from Nebraska, our new state mottto "Is bend over we need to tax you".

2003-08-28 01:11:22 AM
but farkthulhu... (great name by the way)

I live in omaha, wear a seed hat, AND a shirt with questionable content! (it's all true!)

What the hell does that make me?!?!

2003-08-28 10:20:17 AM
Slow news day? There's been a couple bookstores in my college town offering that the last four years 9_9 Didn't seem like anything special.

Luxowell,

That makes you a conundrum, torn between two worlds, yet welcome in neither.

My heart goes out to you. . .

Don't worry my ugly duckling someday you'll grow into a beautiful swan!

HA!
