On June 1, the principal of the school where the victim's children attended received a letter claiming the victim was abusing his kids, which Nassau County Child Protective Services investigated and "deemed unfounded," police said.

Is this horribly written, or am I still hungover?

Why do they have to have tryouts? cannot they just let the kids play?

Well, when I was in little league, we had tryouts so you could demonstrate your ability and hopefully get on a winning team. It's not about playing, it's about winning.

I'm sorry your son has not learned what it takes to manipulate the system for meaningless short-term success and recognition. I'm heading out of town, but I left my son quite a bit of money so he can take care of the house... Throw a big party, maybe score some booze and pot for his HS buddies, and hopefully learn to douche and fark at a college level.

They could. But it really is more interesting to watch the kids that can actually play doing so against other kids that can actually play rather than having them all on the same team and watching them all suck. Or worse, having kids that can actually play playing against kids who have no business trying. And let's face it, even in little league you can tell who those kids are.

Our little league had tryouts. Each kid was graded 1-5. Then the teams were made up equally (well as equal as possible).

Wasnt a perfect system but gave everyone a chance as a few victories.

Better than my soccer team....No one wanted to coach so I did it it last minute. LOTS of rejects on that stinker, but we scratched out 2 wins...

That's right, Little League is serious business.
Not like Tee-Ball. I still have memories of swinging a bat while wearing a big loose helmet, struggling to see where the hell I was running. Is it weird I can actually remember things from when I was 4 or 5?

Winning what? It's not like there are NBL and Nike agents sitting in the bleachers looking for new talent.

UsikFark: douche and fark at a college level.

1. What is your son douching?

2. Females douching is bad. The normal vaginal bacteria (lactobacilus) keeps the vagina at a low healthy pH around 4, which keeps the bad things out, like Gardnerella vaginalis (which is the bug that gives off the fish smell, aka "positive whiff test"). Douching clears out the lactobacilus, which then leads to infection.

/More you know.

Wait. So the guy wasn't making his kid play little league?

I loved little league. Its like the only kids sport where you can eat hot dogs and nachos and whatever crap they sell at the concession stand while between innings.

Nothing like other kids slapping your ass and walking around with bats banging you in the crotch while yelling " CUP CHECK"

And the best year was when they banned bat weights because some kid but a too big one on his bat and killed another kid when it flung off.

I'm starting to think that last one might be a urban legend or maybe there is like at least one kids that gets his hearted stopped by a stray bat weight per league.

You seem to have confused baseball with daycare.

Baseball is a game designed to be mildly competitive. Also, the children don't typically suspend the disbelief that there is no score even if the adults aren't busy keeping it.

I do however point out mildly competitive, because clearly the parent in the article has confused competitive with 'serious business'

I played both when I was a kid. I can tell you I value the awards and victories in competative sports so much more. If feels good to know that your hard work and long practices pays off.

With non-competative sports you're like "who the hell cares, I just showed up and breathed."

To often children are victims of their parents highly aggressive nature, as is anyone else in their way.

It's like evolution, except selecting for the short term entertainment of creepy parents instead of selecting for skills that actually help most kids throughout their whole lives...

It's a "travel team", kinda like "all-stars". Her kid is, apparently, qualified to neither travel nor star. And from the look of the photo, we can all sleep a little bit better knowing that she's not out there somewhere on the road. With a kid. And a bat.

Little league is good for kids. Kids learn sportsmanship, being part of a team, having a coach as an authority figure, and also after the game you shake hands with the other team and eat Popsicles.

I doubt people understand.
Most likely the kid played a full season for a team, then, they construct an all-star/travel team that competes for state/national championships.
Such teams often show significant favoritism/coach's son preferences. And sometimes they already have two good catchers and your kids is the 3rd best so they picked up another pitcher instead.
Still, the psycho factor among parents increases when you switch to traveling teams.
