Putnam Lake has only recently discovered plywood, so I'm not surprised.

Do news outlets not have editors anymore? (Although starting out with competent authors would be a big help.)

Its from Kill Bill:

The venom of a black mamba can kill a human in four hours, if, say, bitten on the ankle or the thumb. However, a bite to the face or torso can bring death from paralysis within 20 minutes. Now, you should listen to this, 'cause this concerns you. The amount of venom that can be delivered from a single bite can be gargantuan. You know, I've always liked that word... "gargantuan"... so rarely have an opportunity to use it in a sentence. If not treated quickly with antivenom, 10 to 15 milligrams can be fatal to human beings. However, the black mamba can deliver as much as 100 to 400 milligrams of venom from a single bite.

CSB time.

One of my coworkers, and ex paramedic, relayed this story to me. There's a women who lives somewhere in Indianapolis, same as myself (unfortunately). She bought a snake on some sort of black market. She ended up getting bit by it and rushed to the hospital. Luckily for her she lives in a city with a zoo which means that the nearby hospital stocked anti venom for all the animals at the zoo. The zoo had a black mamba. Someone at the hospital identifies the snake that bit her as a black mamba (from a picture of the "pet" iirc). She gets treated with the anti venom and lives.

A solid year after hearing this I was talking to my now ex and that story popped into my head. I told it to her, she thought for a second, and said "Hang on, I used to work with her husband (at the now closed Borders)! He told me about that. They're both idiots."

/small world.

It was a rather long stick - a pole if you will - but I remember about 10 years ago watching a program on the Black Mamba with my late husband. I don't think I've slept well since. Those damned snakes have a seek and destroy ability I wouldn't want to be a pole lengths from.
