My Skyline Vspec II GTR-34 would destroy that piece.
[Goes back to playing Gran Turismo]

Ant

The original 2000 TT was non-quattro. Which is why its already sought out by people who intend to modify. Non-q is the way to go... For any performance car, the best way to get power from the engine to the ground is as directly as possible. If you're gonna keep it bone stock and off the track, Quattro isn't really an issue.

I saw a 39 Willy's coupe turn 698Hp on dynojet this year. Had a big block and a blower. It weighed nothing and with the with the wide back tires, might have given the bugatti a run for it's money on a 1/4 mile.

Yes, it was totally street legal.

The Koenigsegg blows the Bugatti out of the water. Well, not really, but it's damned sexy.

TheRealSkot:

I believe that Ant and covas were talking about the "Ur-Quattro" from the 80's, not the 2000 TT wannabe jellybean. The Ur-Quattro was pushing 500hp when bought stock from the dealer in top form, had quattro, and in a rally race was so dominating that it was eventually banned from competition, much like the Superbird "aero cars" were banned from NASCAR (or emasculated) in the 70's. Those early quattros were true supercars, they'd show basicaly any stock manufacturer car of the era serious tail-pipeage, on or off road.

Here's my car...

Nice, eh?

Here's some more pics from that photo shoot with the model:

"So we've got the:

- I'd rather have such and such other supercar.
- I'd rather have such and such other totally unrelated riceboy fantasy car, i.e., Skyline.
- I'd rather have the POS I drive right now.
- I'd rather have a plane.

Did I miss anything?"

Actually this is kinda weird...I drive a fairly new camry, but I would really like

A jeep wrangler, safari kit, big tires, foglamps, modified speakers, and a couple of trail bikes on the back of it.

I don't thikn you had that :)....

I'm so in the mood for driving around topless, with a bud and a couple of ladies in the back. Drive up the beach, and just have f'ing fun with a nice ride.

If you are looking for mind-numbing power at a price you can ALMOST afford, go to google and punch in BOSS HOSS MOTORCYCLE. 500 horses, 500 pounds--you get the picture.

Marine Turbone Technologies makes a nice piece called a Y2K SUPERBIKE: 350 horses on turbine power (helicopter engine actually) for a top end in the 300+ neighborhood. . . at least, we think; nobody so far has had the balls to take it up over 250.

What about the Dodge Tomahawk? Viper engine on a motorcycle!!!

Meh, the Bugatti is pretty and all, but I'm waiting for the US Lotus Elise in 2004. Its only a 190HP engine, but in a car that weighs less than a ton with a full tank of gas. And besides, you spend %4 of the price of the Veyron and still get argueably the best handling car in the world and it runs under 5 naturally aspirated...

/SIGH

2003-08-25 01:28:47 PM
You are correct, djresin8, but the Tomahawk is just a one-time showoff machine. Also, I have serious doubts anyone could control it with that hokey 4-wheel configuration.

Here's MY dream car.

The DYMAXION!!!

Of course, there were only 3 ever made... and only 1 survives, but it WILL BE MINE!!!

2003-08-25 01:46:35 PM
WTF?? I'll try a different link.

Again... THE DYMAXION!!!

Well, I was going to post a generic picture of a high-dollar car and claim I owned one, but I see that a couple of guys already beat me to it...

Then I was just going to say that I owned a high-dollar car, but I was too slow for that one, too.

And Ant, I share your love of the A4 Avant S4. I want a yellow one!

2003-08-25 01:50:24 PM
Pretty cool, but I'm not buying one until the IROC version comes out.

djrezin8: Thanks for the photos. That model is smokin!

GEAH - I wonder how it handles. If it's decent in the hills, I expect to see a few in my neighborhood.

One guess, off the top of my head: Marin?

One thing I'd love to do is supercharge my ZR-1. Up to now there has never been a supercharger available for the LT5 engine, aside from the 5 turbocharged ZR-1s that Lingenfelter was contracted to build (and was limited to 5 by that contract) and a one-off that the hack Callaway built. Kurt White has begun on a supercharger system for the LT5, which is as anyone who knows the ZR-1 can tell you is an extremely tight fit (see below photo - not much room to play with) so he has stated that the kit will require relocation of the radiator, but knowing the quality of Kurt's work the end result will be nothing short of perfection (he rebuilt the transmission in my car and it shifts beautifully - much smoother than a stock ZF). I'm really looking forward to the kit and hope to be able to buy one and have a 368 cu in. LT5 built for my car. The end result will be somewhere between 700 and 850hp, possibly a bit more since he's planning on testing at boost levels of up to 20psi. The really great thing about the mechanically-driven supercharger is that boost begins right at idle, wheras with turbine-driven chargers you need to wait for the exhaust pressure to build up to drive the turbine, and then wait for the turbines to spool up, etc. so his supercharger kit should be far more streetable than Lingenfelter's turbo LT5s were, where low-end torque is concerned.

Those who say a guy with a hot car is compensating for something are compensating for their own lack of means to acquire said car.

What is a mega-rich car-lovin' guy supposed to drive in order to not look like he's compensating for something?

2003-08-25 02:50:58 PM
BTW without a live axle there is no way my car will ever dip into the 8.xx range no matter how much power the LT5 puts out (assuming I can afford the supercharger and 368 to bolt it to), because the IRS setup absorbs lots of power. If the IRS doesn't absorb the power, it will break. Folks who have C4 Corvettes dipping into the 8.xx range and lower almost always have replaced the IRS with a solid axle, usually a narrowed Ford 9" rear -- and many of the 9.xx-range C4s are converted to a live-axle setup as well.

Just_Another_Arsehole: you need a pure blood line to buy a Bugatti. I hear they do background checks to insure that you're worthy.
sorry farkers, but you are not going to get one any time soon - they're for a select few, (myself included) who measure up to the exacting standards (like the vehicle itself!) requiered to handle such superior machinery.

Right.... And I'm next in a royal line of some European country.... I'll be sure my money is ready when I go buy one.

/sarcasm

2003-08-25 04:12:43 PM
Yeah.. but something about the fact that with a Supercharger you are "stealing" power to turn that belt that turns the compressor bothers me.
Turbocharging isn't free horsepower, but it's *close.*

JerkStore, is jealousy on sale?

Yeah, it's okay...i guess...i would still prefer an AMC Gremlin but...whatever...

Do any of you old plane loving people play IL-2:Forgotten Battles by any chance? Just curious.

As to the car, I'd take it if I had the means. And don't knock it just because VW is the parent company. Hell, they own quite a few upper eschelon car companies these days (Audi, Bugatti, Bentley, Lamborghini, Seat, Skoda,
Rolls-Royce, Volkswagen are their current holdings I believe) so knocking this car for that reason is a tad petty.

2003-08-25 05:26:21 PM
That's fuccking ugly. Rather have the Ferrari.

2003-08-25 05:32:42 PM
eh, it's no uglier than the Enzo.

Shrug.

2003-08-25 05:38:07 PM
A) What the fark is with that ugly pain scheme??????
B) What the fark is with that weirdo grill????

That's ok, I can change both....

HOWEVER, I'd really rather have 5 Lamborghini Gallardos for that price, or maybe a pair and a Diablo and a Ferrari Modena or F50 for a "backup".

Really though - silly car, quad turbos - who is going to work on it? I bet it sounds cool, though....

2003-08-25 06:14:03 PM

Pfffft... a Ducati 999 does 0-60 in 2.7 secs with a naturally aspirated 120 hp V-twin. Sure, not as fast as a Hayabusa, but get this: It can turn! That is 1/8 of the cylinders of the Bugatti, 1/8 of the displacement. Also important for the people here, it is 1/50 of the cost! No bloated overpriced car for me... too bad the 999 can't hold a candle to 916 styling :(

2003-08-25 07:00:59 PM
ShamelessGoatFarker you have adware/spyware. It causes pop ups even when ie isn't running.

I'd much rather have a 2004 Ford GT-40. That car is suh-weeeeeeeeet.

DirtyRoot, that's not a car, that's a baggy neon tracksuit on wheels, replete with white baseball cap, copious spots, crooked teeth, crap music, a botched skinhead (the mullet of the essex estate) and a heroin addiction.

get real, and get yourself a real car. novas/corsas are tin buckets. and yes, thats coming from someone who drives an 80s VW too - even in comparison they suck bad.

(offense meant!)

in more happy news..... Bugatti Veyron. Rowwr. Looks the business even if it had a lawnmower engine (which by comparison early bugattis did :)... eight times my capacity, 22x the power (gotta love something that has FOUR turbos), three times the speed, and can hit 200mph and be hard on the brakes before i'm at 60....

GOT to get rich and get one :D

wonder what the handling and economy's like?

2003-08-27 01:11:39 AM
(funnily enough made by the same company... mebbe the prices will come down like their normal cars have :)

The carver, also, would be a sideline purchase. Mental.

And a big steamroller to run down novatrash in :D
