How does a three channel nude-o-scope have more dignity than a one channel?

FTFA: Passengers will be identified by eye scanners, then X-rayed, shoe-scanned and electronically 'sniffed' in the new system's security tunnels.

I am not going to allow the TSA to x-ray me, ever.

It's a form of biometric identification, just like getting your fingerprint.

I shoot a lot and a couple of times I've gone more or less straight from shooting to the airport. I wonder if the sniffers would detect the residue.

Guess I'll find out if it happens, lol

Oooh! Colored lights! High-tech devices! Probably no more or less effective than the theatrics we have now, but less of a pain in the ass -- and since it looks like it costs untold buttloads of money, Homeland Security will want to deploy them to every airport as fast as possible!

If it's anything like CSI they'll be able to trace the GSR to the exact gun you were using and the range you were shooting at and let you through. But replace the magic and intelligent people from CSI with reality and retards, they'll probably shoot you or something.

TSA REPORTS EXCESSIVE RADIATION EXPOSURE

ATLANTA, Georgia- TSA officials report that some screening scanners may be set incorrectly, exposing air travelers to unknown levels of X-ray radiation. Just how long the machines were operating at these levels is not known, but the TSA will offer free mammograms and prostate exams until 4th of July weekend.

Listen motherfarkers.

I. Don't. Want. To. Be. X-rayed!

Unless you plan on giving everyone dosimeter badges, monitor exposure, providing prophylactic treatment, and ensure customers in case of cancer, I'd rather wait an hour and take off my shoes.

Average international flight to a non-international airport will net you 2 trips through security, and 2 more on the way back. 4 trips through an X-ray machine on one trip is NOT a joke especially with the rent-a-farkups we've got running the show letting machines operate at higher radiation levels. People who spend their entire year flying back and forth are going to be getting serious dosages, probably more than radiologists get in a year.

The concept of trusted travelers is also a stupid one. Any terrorist would aim to get into that category to take advantage of the lower security, and the criteria would probably be something stupid like "frequent flyer".

Easy enough to fool. You get someone with no Terrie history to travel through your checkpoint enough times to get min. security status. Then follow through with your plan whatever that might be.

If they're telling the truth about radiation levels, yes. But you know they said cellphones were safe for years, and now the real story is coming out. In 20 years the real story about airports scanners will come out for better or worse.

Pardon me if I don't want to be the guinea pig generation.

"Airlines are seeking ways to win back passengers put off by long and irritating airport security measures who have opted to travel instead by train, boat or car. IATA said Monday it expects the industry's profit this year to plummet to $4 billion from $18 billion last year."

Well it took them long enough to figure that out. Apparently the only way we get an alternative to the current TSA mauling is if the airline industry continues to freak out about all that money they're losing.

I dont think they can attribute the profit loss to the security issues. Seems the broader economy is more to blame. I know I personally skipped 2 flights already this year because money is tight. Thats just my anecdote, but I think it's the more plausible reason for the drop.

That being said, if they want to THINK its because of the TSA then yeah Im OK with that. The only way things change is when the people who have a lot of money suddenly have less of it, and are spurred to action.

FTFA: 'Passengers will be categorized based on pre-flight screening done by the government. The information will then be put into a chip in the passenger's passport.

When passengers arrive at the checkpoint, they will be identified by a "biometric identifier," such as an eye scan.
"'

Where's the dignity in that?

But the American sheeple will never rebel, or even vote for a non-approved candidate. That's the real lesson: most people have no need for dignity and freedom, especially not Americans.

2011-06-09 03:40:04 AM
The IATA doesn't need to give my dignity back. I never lost it. I chose it over the convenience of air travel. When I can walk freely into the airport, purchase a ticket to any destination I wish and pay with cash, then get on the plane with no ID check, no strip search, and no x-ray, THEN I will travel by air. Until then, I'll just drive. If I need to go across the ocean, I'll take steerage passage on a garbage scow before I'll subject myself to being processed like a concentration camp inmate. If that's your thing, or you don't really care, great! I haven't flown since early 2002 and I don't miss it. I'm not telling anyone else not to fly. Just that I'm perfectly happy NOT flying, and I previously took at least 4 flights per year. I know I'm not unique. That's a lot of cash they've left on the table. Hope it was worth it.

Unless I missed something the economy was in the toilet last year and they made $18 billion. I don't think the difference between last year and this year economically explains a $14 billion drop and neither does fuel cost. I do, however, think it's interesting that the new enhanced gropings started around the end of last year.

david1963: But the American sheeple will never [...] vote for a non-approved candidate.

A few people write in candidates every year. Other than the write-in method, which is ludicrous on its face and is guaranteed to do absolutely nothing, it's not even possible to vote for a non-approved candidate. The problem with voting is that they only let you vote for politicians. (Aside from the previously ridiculed "write-in" option.)

WhyteRaven74: If the airlines had any spine they'd tell the TSA to go get permanently bent.

Not sure it's lack of spine alone - at the beginning of the TSA stupidity the airline industry had just gotten a $15 billion bailout, so it would have been hard for them to object. As it got more and more obnoxious to fly and they got farther removed from the bailout they should have stepped up and slapped a few people upside the head with common sense. Part of the problem, of course, is that there is another entire industry that's profiting from all of the stupid new scanners so it's not just airlines vs. TSA. If it really is true that they're going to lose as much money as projected they might finally stand up and do something about it.

Meanwhile, I'm annoyed at how little the public has protested. Sure, there was coverage of the new groping stuff, especially when it involved kids, but I thought there should have been more. It's essentially a punishment for not going through the stupid scanners. I've gotten pulled for those scanners over 80% of the times I've flown now, and I refuse to go through them so I get Gladys the hamfisted TSA groper (I'm trying to be sympathetic to screeners, I really am. Jobs are hard to come by. I also apologize to all people named Gladys.) while that crazy drunk guy with a torch and whatever else gets through just fine. 80%. Wtf, either I look like a terrorist or the system is even worse than before, which is pretty impressive.
