(Telegraph)   Good idea: Realizing photojournalists will try to get photos of you outside the court after your conviction. Bad idea: Thinking you can throw them off by dressing in drag. (pics)   (telegraph.co.uk) divider line 32

From the article, "The astonishing bid to make sure his identity remained a secret came as Crute, a director of UK Oil and Gas Ltd, appeared in court charged with trading for 15 months without being registered to gas safety body Corgi."

That is one of the most obtuse sentences I've ever read. I honestly thought it was a proofreading error until I read more of the article.

America could learn something from this. We just give our [white] crooks tax dollars to ensure they can continue to screw us.

And when it's revealed that the woman in the photos is one of the court clerks, and that she's pissed about being called a man, while Crute had left the courthouse by another door... where will the print the apology.

Corgi... that's one of Her Majesty the Queen's yappy little dogs, if I recall. I don't know how to "gas safety body" a yappy little dog, but it can't possibly be pleasant - thus the need for the government to register those who are qualified to do so.

[tl;dr]

A government body, the Health and Safety Executive, formerly contracted out the registration of gas installers to a company called CORGI*. Gas installers were legally required to maintain their entry in CORGI's registry.

This asshat fell out with the HSE and, apparently in a fit of pique, cancelled ('resigned') his registration and then boasted about doing so to the Executive. As a result of his illegally continuing to trade while unregistered, the HSE took him to court.

He was fined £2,000 and ordered to pay £41,000 prosecutions costs and was also banned from being a company director for seven years.

He now lives off just £20 disposable income a week.

Judge Sean Morris told Crute: "This company carried out work in ways that put people's lives at risk."

Too bad all corporate 'suits' were''t punished by having all his/her worldly possessions confiscated and tossed out on the street to survive on a tiny stipend for wanton disregard of the safety rules. It would force them to be honest responsible (plus fulfill the need for revenge)

It would have been a very apt punishment for Tony Heywood.

The lack of visible female assets is a dead giveaway when trying to tell a woman from a man in drag.

You can tell from the photo he did not pad his bra at all, if he's even wearing one.

No hips and a flat buttocks to boot.

And the article mentions he had visible stubble?

If you're gonna rock a skirt, stockings and 4 inch stilettos, why half ass the rest of your appearance?

Dunno, Steampunk Gallagher, lack of visible female assets, plus visible stubble, sounds like quite a lot of women I've seen in the UK.

Article's headline: Company director dresses as woman to try and evade press at court.

For fark's sake, it's "try to" not "try and." Why do the English not know English?
