After seeing the pics there is no energy in me to make and snarky comments. As with those in Alabama, Missouri and Minneapolis, my thoughts and prayers are with you. Now to find the nearest place to contribute something.

Is this some sort of joke I don't get or is it just a side effect of the fact that you live in Florida?

Well now that a tornado has hit somewhere the media cares about, we can finally have a telethon with Matt Damon and Donnie Wahlberg singing "We Are The World" with the Dropkick Murphys. I wonder how the Red Sox all feel about this! Has anyone considered checking their Twitter accounts? We could organize a little vignette where the Celtics go around and clean up the debris, and then there will be a screening of "The Town" for all the survivors! Also, somebody get to work on some little patches for the Bruins to wear in the game tomorrow night - maybe a little grey ribbon with 6/3/11 NEVER FORGET on the bottom. Does anyone know a guy who makes statues? We should commission a statue of Schilling's bloody sock blowing in the wind. Next time the Yankees are in town we'll do dueling tributes to 9/11 and this EF-3 Hurricane, and maybe we can get ESPN to have a special scroll on the bottom of the screen honoring the people who lost their lives in this disaster. Why don't we get the guys over at BU to start research on tornadoes so that our great nation must never suffer these disasters again?! Somebody get Tom Brady and Gisele Bundchen over on Larry King to raise some money.

Yeah, or maybe Eric Cantor will try to deny them "a single penny" of aid until he can twist Obama's arm into dissolving Medicare or the Department of Education. Like he's done with the Joplin disaster.

Okay, snarky comment over with. Tornados suck where ever they land.
/helping in Joplin again Saturday

2011-06-03 05:27:45 PM
I've been in Joplin the past 2 days. There's about a 3.5 mile by .33 mile of that city that will have to be taken down to the foundation. There's enough debris to fill 10 landfills. The only thing I could recognize in before/after pictures of the house we worked on yesterday was a sidewalk. We're using shovels and wheelbarrows and they need bulldozers and dump trucks.

Me & zobear jr just got back from volunteering in Joplin, so definitely sending positive thoughts for clean up and re-cover/building.

The pictures don't do the reality justice.

for someone with clear animosity towards mass you sure know a lot about it. I have been following all the storms in the Midwest and felt for them before it happened in my state. I don't understand I've been running into ass holes like you since Wednesday. its a shame that one if these tornadoes across the country didn't take you out instead of some of the beautiful and kind people that lost their lives. and even massholes are biatching about it being on the news.

if anyone wants to carpool to Springfield this weekend to lend a hand instead of biatching let me know. my station wagon can fit 7.

apparently ef3 is strong enough to throw a train. we have lots of trains out here, commuter rails. they're these things that people use to get to their smart people jobs in the city.

I'm really blown away (no pun intended) that you guys see this as a pissing contest. it will make me think twice about donating a dime or a shred of thought for people in the midwest next time another one farks you up. luckily I have faith that not all if you are self righteous jerks who have to turn tragedy into a contest. sick.

My father found some stuff in his yard in Milford, MA, which he SWEARS was blown there from Monson, MA. I was about ready to tell mom it might be time to start looking at putting him in a home, until I saw this online:

FYI, Monson is about 50 miles from Milford!

If any other farkers are going to be coming into the area to help here is a list of things needed by people who lost their houses.
Boxes
Contractor Trash Bags
Storage totes
Tarps
Bottled drinks are good, a lot of the area has no power and no well water.

The local radio stations are setup near the holyoke mall accepting donations for local red cross relief.
Here is a link for the most up to date collection points road closings etc (new window)

Actually, my complaining was about the media. If you'd like to hop on the "media is actually a caring group of people" argument, then go right ahead.

Dow Jones and the Temple of Doom: Did it take out any New England morons?

I don't know if they were morons, but 4 people died. One story I saw...2 parents were rescued from their house, the mother went to the hospital with critical injuries. When the parents were rescued, they still didn't know where (within the rubble) their kids were, or in what condition. I haven't had the time to look into what happened to those kids.

If they do serve beer in Hell may you only receive Natural Light, served hot.

Oh, lighten up. Weather pissing contests are as much a part of Fark as HA HA Guy and boobies, and I certainly didn't hear you complaining last winter when the Northern farkers were laughing at us when we were digging ourselves out from under two feet of snow. If you are honestly suggesting that you wouldn't donate to help weather victims in the Midwest because someone on the Internet said something that made you mad, then you're the douche.

Funny that Dow Jones and the Temple of Doom is from the only state that has it's own Fark tag.

It's amazing the ITG's that come crawling out of the woodworks when a disaster strikes and they immediately have to start whipping out their disaster dicks.

"I'm from Oklahoma... We don't even notice it until the winds get above 400 mph."

"I'm from Kansas. Unless it's an EF-6, it's still kite flying weather."

Just because you live in a state where big storms happen doesn't make you a stud. Anybody from Moore, or Joplin, Justin, Xenia, et al. will look at those folks up in Mass and actually feel sorry for the farkers because they've been through it, even if it was "just" an EF-3.

We respect your dead when they happen; respect ours, please. Just because the projectiles weren't going quite as fast or the roofs were a little weaker, doesn't mean the resulting carnage didn't create corpses.

My mom is from Palmer (Parmer), and most of my cousins still live in the Springfield area. I don't think the boston accent is in Western Ma. They have a much less noticable version of it.
Mom from MA, Dad from Phx,Grandparents from TX. My speech patterns are all over the damn place.
