You have to use multiple calibers to get the different sized holes.

Expanding to include ranges and classrooms to teach gun safety is silly? Oh, its just that they serve food to...

We have a combination gun shop/Hummer dealership not too far from where I work. Used to be just Hummers, but apparently that's no longer such a good business.

I can name at least two "outdoor stores" that sell guns, hunting clothes, indoor ranges, and have delis. I guess subby doesn't get out much.

Now these are hunting superstores. You can spend a day in them just wandering around. One in Dallas has a hotel connected to it.

Wow! Look at all those tactical rifles for sale. Clearly, Hoover, AL must be like the Wild West, with all the unmitigated gun violence in the streets.

At least--that's what the gun grabbers would like you to believe.

Those are all hunting rifles. Deer are fast moving animals, you need 20 rounds and a quick trigger finger.

i've never understood the 50yrd rifle range thing.

"OMG I'M TEH AWSUM I HAVE SUCH A GREAT GROUP AT 50yrds WITH MY STABILIZER AND SCOPE AND SANDBAGS AND STUFF! I CAN SHOOTZ!"

pussys.

lie down on your fat belly turn your john deere baseball hat on backwards and hit a man sized target 4 times out of 5 over iron sights, you fat ass bubba. this high tech bench shooting has as much to do with real marksmanship has using compound bows with sight pins and stabilizers and release doohickeys has to do with how the english did it against the french at crecy with the long bow.

I don't get the silly tag either. If you go to a gun range during the weekend, or attend all day classes at a gun range, it can be very busy and you have to wait (or in the case of a class, go offsite to get lunch).....so having a deli on site that serves food is a great thing.

Because not all rifles are hunting rifles? I just picked up one of these at the most recent gun show in town:

images.wikia.com

Put an EOTech optical sight on it which is good for around 50 yards. There's no point in sighting it in for anything beyond that. Plus the bullet only suffers about a half an inch drop from 50 to 100 yards.

And any competent person can sight a rifle for 200+ while only needing a 50 yard range. But you're so goddamn manly I'm surprised you even use a rifle. Just chase em down and rip out their throats.

Somebody mentioned the phrase "Eat a shotgun" in the Kevorkian thread, referring to (messy) suicide.

I'm thinking I'd like to eat a shotgun on a Kaiser roll with piclkes, thousand island dressing and swiss cheese.

Oh, do you have Wavy Lays? Thanks!

How does it feed? I've heard good and bad...

Any problems with the trigger assembly? Have always thought having it so far forward would make the action feel kinda sloppy.

Did you pay less than $1K? They are still kinda pricey around here. And don't get me started on the ammo! You can buy Hornady, or....you can buy Hornady. (I've got the Five-SeVen) It's a great round--too bad it's not more popular.

Really need one of these in Northern Virginia. Especially an indoor range geared towards LEOs that can handle intermediate and large caliber rifle rounds. If they also had "move and shoot" and "officer down" training/practice capability, they would probably have more business than they could possibly accommodate...

My junior high school had a rifle range and a cafeteria. Big deal.

Used to work at that one when I was in HS! Huge huge huge. Something like 300,000 sqft. Also has an indoor rifle range (100yd), handgun range, archery range, driving range... home, home on the range... err. Sorry, it's Friday.

CSB Re: Rifle Range. It's a big tube/pipe that runs under the store, you can hear the bullet travel through the tube/pipe and then hit the target. I think the sound you hear is the shock wave travelling behind the bullet (but I'm no expert). Pretty neat IMO!

/I'm getting a kick? Doesn't fit I guess.

so you're one of those guys with the 80$ mosin nagant who congratulates himself at hitting water melons at 50yrds with ammunition that should be lethal at ranges up to half a mile?

oooh nice lookin' p90! i've only fired one of those once, it was amazing how light it was. it was weird to me, though, how close the grip and trigger was. was fun to shoot tho.

now, sighting in is one thing, dialing out a scope or whatever at that kinda range is one thing... but... man. i've just seen so many dbags high five eachother because they hit a watermelon at 50 yards, like ist an achievement or something.

for me its all about mid to early 20th century c&r stuff that begins at 300 yards. The 7.62x39 and nato counterpart just arent quite as fun to me as the old full sized 7.62 and 8mm rounds...
