I've saved all my Birthday notifications since 2008. That's right, never deleted them, even though I deleted lots of TotalFark expirations, etc. They've stayed at the top of my page, visit after visit. So today, on my 30th birthday, I visited the site right at 12:01 so I could see my 2011 notification... and they're all gone.

It's somewhat depressing.

I asked this question via ticket to redesigners(asked for the ability to select themes/design via CSS, which many websites have and community driven sites like Conversatron were doing nearly a decade ago).. Answer as follows:

There isn't a plan to do that at this time, but the dev team is listening to a lot of suggestions (some of them conflicting). I don't believe there's an immediate plan to change CSS options like you recommend, but tweaks and improvements go on daily and so this may be implemented at some point in the future.

/and this font/spacing makes teletype look like ass.

Oh god.. it really does suck... all I do when I come onto fark is: read the Main Page headlines, maybe scroll down if its a slow day... do the same for Sports, Showbiz, Geek, Business, and maaaaybe Video. But now it's annoying to scan the headlines... Thanks, I guess... I don't even want to scan the headlines anymore since my eyeballs are just wasting their time on white space, or scrolling just so I can see the next 10 headlines is dumb, because everything on the page just moved, and I have to retrain/refocus my eyes.

You guys should get a designer next time you re-design

Okay. I pissed and moaned about the last redesign. I'm an old Farker that barely posts and debates on the whopping $60 annual renewal. I really don't care about the new look; I'll ignore it.

That said, you couldn't have put an open call for a better redesign? I'm an okay web designer. I'm sure there are some AMAZING artists and designers out here on Fark that could have put together a fantastic design.

No one receives compensation from PS contests so why not open it up to an epic contest?

Ultimately it's all over now, but why not ask your audience at the very least.

That said the spacing is all off and the font sizes are ugly. It looks like a website circa 1987 if the web existed then.

Still a relative noob, but the new font looks good to me, good reading text. The new slogan is a bit clunky. It has an air of redundant-exposition-in-order-to-reach-a-wider-audience-who-doesn't-necessarily- get-what-the-hell-we're-on-about kind of feel. I think you should stay cryptic.

Can we make it easier to see when someone's responding or talking to you?

Mark headers of comments to/about me with ▶ symbol

It doesn't make it very clear. I'd recommend changing the colour of the header bar or a comment rather than just adding a little green arrow. Also, it seems to only work on the initial quote, not subsequent ones.

For instance, if someone quotes me, and my name is a hyperlink and all that, I get the icon. If someone else comes along and quotes the second post, my user name is no longer a link, and so I don't get the icon. It would be nice if any time my user name shows up, it would trigger the symbol.

Just something I've noticed that would make it easier to scan threads for replies and/or people talking to me.
