It's trivial to swim in the river just above the American Falls. Used to take my dog to Luna Island and let him play in the shallows about 25 feet from the brink of the Am. Falls. The river runs fairly slow over the American side anyway, and with the shallows near the edge of the island, it's a nice place to wade around in on a hot day. Kinda cool that the falls are literally only a few yards away.

The water isn't nearly as filthy as people claim. Can see the upper Niagara from my house (if I stand on the roof, or climb my tree, or, more likely, walk a block.)

..and it's about 50 degrees right now.

That being said, if this was a suicide, we wouldn't have heard about it. The local news media think that not covering the ~30 suicides a year will somehow reduce them.

Of course, it hasn't reduced them yet.

At least she can scratch that off her bucket list.

She went over Horseshoe Falls, which is the Canadian side. There is no smashing into rocks on the Canadian side. US side yes, Canadian no.

/still got the millions of gallons of water thing going though.

Oh, please.

There are bound to be some rocks under the water there that the millions of gallons of water eventually smashed her into. The water doesn't just go on down forever. It stops on something. And so did she.

Nope. The base under the Canadian side has been undercut so much by erosion that it goes deeper down than the Falls are up. It's a 180' drop, 187' depth below the falls.
