F42: Weird, a recap of past killers with no mention to the barrel girls case :-|

Season 5 doesn't come out on DVD until August, so maybe they don't want to give away the killer for a season that a lot of people haven't seen yet.

Is his sister finally going to find out? She knew from book one dangit! BOOK ONE!

CowboyNinjaD: Season 5 doesn't come out on DVD until August

They shoot themselves in the foot with this shiat. The DVDs should be on sale, individually, as soon as the episodes on a disc have been aired. Preferably the same day. I'm sure Showtime would throw a tantrum. I'm okay with that.

Yeah, my roommate was remarking on how they didn't really have anywhere left to go and was quite flummoxed when I told him just how much further they could take it if they were even close to cannon.

To be fair, I think they offer Dexter on Showtime On Demand, so people can pay for episodes a la carte. I'm not sure if it wouldn't be cheaper just to get Showtime, but it's an option.

It probably wouldn't make sense financially to sell individual episodes on DVD a week after they air, especially when there are good systems in place to have viewers pay for digital downloads.

They do need to release the season DVDs earlier, for all shows really. They always release the previous season a couple weeks before the new show starts. This might be fine for one 12-episode show, but what about people who want to get caught up on multiple shows? They're probably going to need the entire summer, which would work out fine since there aren't as many shows on anyway.

Yay!

Maybe I'll watch it, but I have a feeling the show is past its prime.

Same reason I don't watch House anymore. Should've ended when he got with Cuddy. Now, its just a pointless bunch of, "OH C'MON!"s and the writer's running low on ideas.

Not so much a teaser as a recap of all the old seasons.... Season 5 was kind of average, but I know I'll keep watching. I think it's about time for Deb to find out...

Consider how many people will never see the season until they can physically buy the DVDs in a local store like anything else.

Regarding individual DVDs, what I mean is that if you're going to sell a set with three episodes per DVD, just sell the DVDs individually after the three episodes on a disc have aired. Then sell a boxed set after the last episode.

She came damned close to finding out in season 5.

However, the show has diverted from the books pretty much since season 1, so don't get your hopes up.

****spoiler for season 5****

am i the only one who thought Deb knew it was Dexter at the end of last season? it just seemed too obvious with all the info she got from quinn, and common sense...

PLUS the way she told dexter in the last 5 minute 'wrap up' of the season, something to the effect of "now that this is OVER WITH." (like she was going to ignore the fact that her brother helped someone murder the big baddie...because she kind of agreed with it.)

i just assumed that the viewer was supposed to assume she knew.. maybe not that he was the bay harbor butcher or anything, but that he was the one helping the girl in this case.

because if we're supposed to believe that she just had no clue who was behind the plastic sheet... well then... that's just stupid.

Yeah, I stopped watching Dexter a while ago, then I read the books and discovered that the show and the books are very little alike.

I stopped watching house last season. Just got tired of the formula. Person gets sick, goes to see House and his team. They diagnose wrong, House is an asshole, then they diagnose wrong again.. throw in a little team drama... diagnose wrong again and almost kill the patient.. and TADA!! Saved the patient in the last 5 minutes.

Bones.. now that the season finally has Bones telling Booth she's knocked up and it is his... my favorite show has apparently jumped the shark. I will watch next season to see if I am right... but I just don't see how the show is going to work from this point out. The SERIES finally should have been them farking like animals or getting married...

Oh, I got that vibe too. I'm pretty sure Deb knew who was behind the plastic sheeting. Lumen for certain, Dexter, maybe.

Love the show, but season 5 has been the weakest so far. Hopefully 6 will make up for it.

I'm assuming she's starting to figure it out, at some level, but her conscious mind is constantly screaming "HELL NO" and trying to lock that realization in the basement. She's a bit of a basket case emotionally, and this season would be the perfect time to rip out why and examine it; it's not just "daddy didn't love me as much as my adopted brother" like they hinted at a few seasons ago, she's seething with rage almost ALL the time, that's why she explodes the moment someone screws with her. And I'm thinking, she's seething because she DOES, subconsciously, know what Dexter's doing, but that part of her is being forced silent, so it's that suppressed rage that's boiling over into everything else.

If she doesn't admit it to herself, she can pretend it isn't true, so long as nobody else brings it up. That's the only thing holding her together. Of course, her being forced to recognize the truth is also the only thing that would let her live a peaceful life.

I'm betting this season will be her hiding some evidence from a new Bay Harbor Butcher case when she realizes it might incriminate Dexter, and then her hunting anyone else, including the new enemy of the season, to try and avoid dealing with it. But eventually, Showdown between Deb and Dex, and he has to decide whether to kill her to save himself, or force her to kill him instead, since there's no way he's going to prison.

I am going to predict that they write Deb out of the show somehow. Totally based on the true-life divorce of Hall and Carpenter, plus the show just seems to do things like that.

Still waiting for season 5 on Netflix.

...

Still waiting ...

2011-05-28 06:50:42 PM
I've been meaning to ask: In that season 5 finale wouldn't the cops be certain to find Dexter's wrecked stolen car (and blood) at that camp? Deb said she was calling it in and they'd only have a few minutes to escape. So it's not like 2 people with no equipment would have time to move an overturned vehicle away from the scene.

In Season 6 he fights the Death Panels of the Obama Healthcare Program.

A serial killer who is never caught because he works for the police? Small wonder they had to set it in Florida.

I got through season one and two via Netflix and thought the show was awesome. Couldn't wait to watch more episodes on dvd but accidentally clicked on a post/picture at EHOWA.com where he gave away the ending of season 4 without a warning. Ruined the series for me. What was the point of watching the other two seasons when I knew how it was going to end.

They should bring back the black guy.

Won't be happening. In fact, except for seasons 1 & 2 that are available for streaming via Netflix, there won't be anymore "Dexter" available, not even on DVD.

Netflix loses Dexter & Californication

Don't you already have to be paying $100 a month or whatever for a basic cable subscription before you have access to that?

/I just bootleg it. I know, I'm an asshole.

Oh look, another media company that clearly hates to make money. Well don't worry, Showtime. I will happily oblige your aversion to profit and make a point to pirate all of your shows from now on.

Dexter doesn't just kill other serial killers. He also kills child molesters who have managed to get away with their crimes. Dexter is very protective of children and is very intolerant of those who hurt them.

Just did a marathon viewing of all 5 seasons straight through. It's interesting to see that the more emotionally involved with life Dexter gets, the more out of control he becomes. In Season 1, he's cold, rational, and methodical, but pretty much emotionless. As he starts gaining real emotions instead of faking them, he keeps making bigger and bigger mistakes that lead to him becoming more and more frantic.

Also, in regards to the books, yeah, I think the further they stay away from the plotline of the book series, the better off the show is. Besides the whole 'WTF Moloch possession' thing, he's training Astor and Cody to be serial killers as well because they're as broken inside as he is thanks to their abusive father. That's...disturbing.

Anyways, yay Season 6, forget Season 5, so on and so forth...

While it's odd there at least wasn't a shot of her driving up and seeing the over-turned car and thinking "hmm, that's odd" - it was a stolen car...dexter stole it, remember?

- worked on season 5. Got great video of car flip on my handy.

I love me Dex but the tension or hatred between Michael C and Jennifer Carpenter was palpable during season 5. Never date from work yo!
