<===I need Vodka to handle those glasses

2003-08-20 03:04:57 AM
Anyhoo. Its true though. Many are the mornings when you can see Russians stumbling to work with a bottle of beer in their hands. Even on cold mornings.

2003-08-20 03:09:23 AM
Heathens.

2003-08-20 03:11:03 AM
To hell with Vodka. I chugged off a Gallon of McCormick's a few weeks back and that did me in the next day. No more Vodka for me.

Beer is good.

2003-08-20 03:12:38 AM
Yes I'm aware that's shiatty Vodka, but I didn't buy it.

2003-08-20 03:14:36 AM
Stick to the good stuff. Russian vodka is smoother than Milla Jovavich's chest.

Vodka

When you absolutely have to get as farking drunk as you can.

2003-08-20 03:14:53 AM

Oh, great. Now we're going to end up with Vodkale.

2003-08-20 03:18:27 AM
Oh, and since no one else has bothered to resurrect the cliche...

In Sov't Ruskia, beer drinks you!

Just remember beer before liquor never sicker.

/drinking more is not a sign of economic growth

There's a Yakov Smirnof joke there somewhere.

drinking more is not a sign of economic growth

True enough. I can also recall when people assumed that the increased beer consumption among Russians was a sign of rising health consciousness. Problem was that they were drinking more beer but not necessarily drinking much less vodka.

Confirming Zerkalo's beer on the way to work thing, even young girls. It's great! Also the cans of gin and tonic are still popular in the provinces.

Good Russian beer: Baltica 3,7,8,9 and 11. Starry Melnik, Dr Deisel and Sibirsky Korona. Russian Stella Artois is pretty good too (made in Rostov, I think)

Damn I miss Russia.

Gavino: Good Russian beer: Baltica 3,7,8,9 and 11.

Numbered beer? That seems so... Soviet.

Although if the numbers were higher I might think they were octane ratings. :-)

As Russian's get richer...they drink Vodka AND beer...sheesh.

zerkalo, I live in Germany and I've met a few Russian girls. 6 feet tall, blue eyed blonde, gorgeous women that speak English, extremely friendly, their accents alone give me a woody...
Can you tell me where to go in Russia to find the nightlife?
I don't want to waste time looking for it, I'd like to know where to go before I buy the ticket....

Gavin

Not to mention Nevskoye and canned Rum and Coke. And its almost TOO cheap! Almost...

That kinda depends. There's many kinds of clubs and bars here, but if all you want to do is dance and meet people, it comes down to maybe ten places that people gravitate towards. Check out the club listings at:

the eXile (mostly SFW)

Moscow Times Metropolis Section

or log-on to the Moscow Ex-pat site

Johnny Wadd - Divas and Nightflight are all you need to know. Both within 100 metres of Tiffany and Pushkinskaya Metro. Advice: Rob a bank before you go.

i just got back from Leningrad (st. petersburg) a few weeks ago and can confirm

a) russian DO drink tons of beer, and
b) baltika is in fact a delicious beverage.

I hear the going rate for a decent hooker in Moscow is $300.

2003-08-20 04:33:54 AM
although you might protestant them down to $200-250. Other places where you might find free of charge company are Real McCoy, Karma Bar, Propaganda, Chinese Pilot something-something, Papa John's

2003-08-20 04:38:37 AM
You could go to a place in Germany and get a hooker for 6 months for 1500

/yesterdays article

2003-08-20 04:43:31 AM
For $1500 you can fly to Cambodia, buy a small castle, start your own harem, and eat like a king every day until you die.

2003-08-20 04:46:12 AM
Well obviously. I mean, if you had the choice, which would you rather drink? Fermented potato, or fermented hops and barley? ...I'm not sure either.
/thought I had a point

I can go to the Philippines and get 30 girls for $300

I was in Korea and there were hundreds of Russian girls working in the bars as hostesses. They were working for essentially nothing which made me think the Russian economy must suck the big one, which equals decent prices for me...
Many of the girls were from Vladivostok, and oriental russian chicks from the North Korean border were stunning, and like I said spoke fluent English.
Are you sure it wouldn't be best to stay the hell away from a big place like Moscow? Perhaps find more agreeable hunting grounds elsewhere?

As someone who has devoted his life to Hedonism there's not much you can tell me about Asia.
I've just had a notion lately that I'd like to go somewhere and frolic with tEh white wimmens....
Russia and Eastern Europe seems like they might be interesting places....

Ya know who's really a beaut, Russian gymnist Svetlana Khorkina. She was in the Russian version of playboy. Comeon' people...get us a NSFW link!

You might want to avoid the larger cities. I hear provincial town women are more desperate, cheaper. But you might end of with a disease, or married...

Not supprising....England used to export a strong stout to the Czar because the ruling class prefered beers taste and effects compared to the "vulgar" vodka. Vodka was the U.S.S.R.'s version of librium(for those of us who saw the movie equalibrium) sort of a way to distract the masses. Off topic but relavent who thinks Russia is heading back twords comunism or even monarchy?

2003-08-20 11:42:35 AM
Indeed.

Vodka is what your grandfather drank.

Beer, however, is very modern, very European.

If I had a perfect day
I would have it start this way
Open up the fridge and have a tall boy
Yeah

Then I'd meet up with my friends
Head out to the game again
We don't even really care who wins
Now excitement seems to grow
When we're hangin' with the bro's
When we're chillin' and we pound a case of Stroh's
Now the game is cool to see
You can "High 5" on TV
Count the riot on the one two three
Operation is in sight
And the field is open wide
When you break it then you know you're still alive
If the cops don't make you pay
And you make your getaway
Then you know
That's one fine day

On that day before we're through
We could torch a car or two
Then have ourselves another tall boy
Yeah

Water hoses and batons
That's the real game that's on
I don't really give a shiat who wins

I believe it's my god - given right
To destroy everything in my sight
Cause it never gets dull, it never gets old
The only thing it gets is more bold
Drinkin', fightin', going to the game
In our world it's a way to stay sane
If you're asking me
To have it my way, I'd say that's
One fine day
