Bingledak: Done with cancer treatments finally!!!!! Here is a friends cat as celebration. Feel free to caption him - chemo brain is still in full force and I can't come up with one. Caturday has been a source of humor for me to get thru these last few months so thanks everybody for what you do.

Feel better soon. Pop in whenever you need a boost, there are some seriously good people here who really care.
/alright, we might have a pervert or two lurking around, but feel free to ignore them

Manjula, one month in...

img810.imageshack.us

Caturday morning

img694.imageshack.us

If I don't get up in time for her morning gooshy she'll sometimes pull the entire blind to one side so the sun shines in on my face...

img146.imageshack.us

Manjula is still a bit plump. She gained a lot of weight in kitty jail. Notice the oddly short tail. It was never injured or deformed... it comes to a proper point. It's just missing about two inches...

Bestest kitty ever...

Greetings and salutations,

I lurk more often than I post, but this has been fun.

The thread mentioned telling your cat tails tales here, so I'll tell you about Boofus, and Blerticus.

Boof' was 'Tyler', a friend's owner, and a finicky beast who didn't like much of anybody--but took a liking to me. When his pets had to move out of state, they asked if I'd become his domestic. I liked cats. Most cats liked me. Previously in life I'd had two cats; one ran away, one died of FUS. I was hesitant.

But I took him in, and he gave me 8 years of joy and companionship. He was a BIG cat, and quite the bounder. Early on in our domicile, I learned his jellicle name was Boofus. Boofus Potatohead. (I did not learn, at that time, how to take a good picture, so forgive me that here, please).

When he was 17, he developed renal failure. I cared for him with a vet for as long as I could afford to. I knew the night he would pass that it was going to happen, and was able to be with him, to let him go, with my hand upon him in whatever comfort that could offer. I was able to take that last picture (which I do not post, as it's not how I like him remembered, but rather an image for me, on his last day. Instead I link this one, of happier, sunbeam filled days.)

Link (new window)

Not knowing what to do with a dead cat, I took him to the county animal shelter, and they accepted him. On the way out, I noticed the sign that said for every 200 animals brought in, only 1 would leave.

I cried all the way home. (admission: crying now, too.)

Boofus carries on with me always in my heart, but a week later, I went back to the pound, and found me my one in 200, an orange tabby with (I suspect) a Siamese grandparent; peaches and cream. He's in all my entries in the farktography contest(nw) this week.

I named him Blert, as in Heinlein's "Cat who could walk through walls" (less gold eyes for blue); as he's described perfectly elsewise in the book. I was thrilled as he grew and thrived and now is at least every bit as long as Boofus, though he's more sleek. And Blert is not a lap kitty. Boofus was. I miss that. I have many large folders of pictures of Blerticus, including this b-side that I almost (and shoulda) used for the contest. Link (new window) I learned later that with pride and humility combined, his proper name was Blerticus.

He's 4 now, and in his prime. As the b/w kitten in the 'motion frame' shot from the contest has been taken by her domestic to another state, I'm considering getting Blerticus a kitten of his own. I just don't relish the idea of keeping up with the fur of two owners. It will run me ragged, lands sakes. And really, isn't it faux paw for one creature to own another of the same race/creed/religion? [I digress]

Nice community you have going here. I'll try to visit more often. I envoted for a good many of your pics, and hope I did okay on the my own. Be gentle. I don't work out.

The Finest Gift

Tiny Kittens and their Purr,
Softest texture to the Fur.

Happy Puppies do us Hail,
Wag the ever happy Tail,

All Creatures, Great or Small,
Teach us to Love, one and All.

When Winging Home,
Heeding the Call
His Own Hand
Accepts them All.

Why do we Love, We know we'll Lose,
What better life could we Choose?

Companions home, a brief Time,
All in perfect Rhyme.

They are the Greatest Reflection of our Days.
