I recall as a youth at a friends house in their basement getting high. I heard the door upstairs open, and I got all paranoid about what was happening. My buddy goes, 'it's cool, my grandma is here.' A few minutes later as we were taking bong rips, the door opens and g ma comes walking down stairs, grabs his grandson's bong, and takes down a dr dre style rip, and says 'I use to smoke this all the time when I was your age.' Needless to say I was geeking out.

So why did they search her house again? Because she visited her boyfriend in jail? Either the article really fails at details or they searched her home for no reason.

2011-05-17 01:32:52 PM
I grew up in that area (Ware County), and am somewhat familiar with where the "pot farm" was located. Sounds like someone was late with their protection money. There's stretches of road (paved road) that you can go back about 50 feet into the pines and see freely growing plants tagged by each particular grower.

It's no big secret. As I said, seems either there was a new Sheriff elected who's trying to make a big impression or someone became stingy with their payoff/protection funds.

Living on a farm justifies having farm equipment. The dude was just likely growing MJ to supplement his income.

The fact that he had guns is not surprising -- most folks who live out in the sticks have guns.

At least the article correctly referred to his AR15 as a "military-style" rifle and not an assault rifle, or weapon of mass destruction.

The war on drugs is not about drugs, per se, but about how the government wants to be able to control the revenue stream. They don't like anyone messing with their monopoly.

Um, what? If that were the cause they would just regulate and tax... the problem is the governments policies are controlled by big business who is making a killing off cigarettes and tobacco. Not to mention all the politically connected organized criminals infested in police and politicians all over the country. They are making a killing too with it being illegal.

That's a nice theory, but if it were ever legalized for smoking, the first thing I'd do is build me a small hydroponic operation for personal consumption. How do you tax a weed! It can grow just about anywhere.

Not the same with hooch -- and you know how insane the ATF gets when someone wants to cook a little shine.

Tobacco, no so much, as growing your own isn't as practical.

Hey - I re-read your post and I agree with you 100% -- my point is that the reason you won't see wholesale decriminalization anytime soon kind of back up your point as well. There's money to be make with the status quo. If decriminalized, the feds lose the tax revenue AND the black market revenue.

No one is going to pay taxes on something that is so easy to grow and consume out of a clay pot sitting on a back porch.
