When pigs fly! Get it? Ahahaha!
2001-10-23 02:03:32 PM
And exactly how does one go about restraining the poor pig for that delightful procedure!?
2001-10-23 02:03:46 PM
damn it! there goes my pierced hampster thesis idea.
2001-10-23 02:05:09 PM
>>rubbing chin thoughtfully<< hmmm or maybe not. . . . . (looking at squirrel outside window)
2001-10-23 02:10:27 PM
My sister, the artist/taxidermist, put pigeon wings on dead bunnies once. Honest.
2001-10-23 02:11:45 PM
Anyone care to bet wether PETA throws a shiat fit over this. While the artwork looks nice I bet those wings HURT
2001-10-23 02:13:17 PM
It'll be farked before PETA gets there...
2001-10-23 02:13:58 PM
It's kind of cool-looking, but the poor piggies...I hope he numbed them up or something first.
2001-10-23 02:16:12 PM
2001-10-23 02:17:42 PM
PETA probably got there about 17 years ago.
2001-10-23 02:17:49 PM
The man said this was his dream - a live pig with tatooed wings - some life this loser has, eh?
2001-10-23 02:20:25 PM
Any real college (except for OSU, maybe...) would laugh you off the face of the planet if you tried to propose this as a friggin MASTERS THESIS.

What is his desired MS in anyway, being a dumbass?
2001-10-23 02:20:55 PM
seems that Heywood Banks (of Bob & Tom fame) has a song about them
2001-10-23 02:21:13 PM
He didn't stop with winged pigs...
[image from too old to be available]
2001-10-23 02:22:47 PM
That guy must have no life.
2001-10-23 02:22:50 PM
Speaking of PETA... If book lovers are bibliophiles what are animal lovers Petaphiles???
2001-10-23 02:29:11 PM
Proud2B_American: Zoophiles
2001-10-23 02:32:14 PM
Didn't he say the pig was under anaesthesia, when it woke up it was the only winged pig in the world....
Anyway, I'll take two, please
2001-10-23 02:33:37 PM
Badee badee badee check out my tatoo folks!
2001-10-23 02:34:21 PM
It took this guy ten years to finally tattoo a pig? Not very handy, is he? If my life's dream was to inject colorful ink into the skin of a barnyard animal, I think I could somehow find a way to do this within only a couple of months.

Step 1: Find and purchase (or rent) a pig. Easy. Pigs can't cost that much.
Step 2: Find a tattoo artist who will let you use his equipment for a few hours. Easy. There must be a thousand tattoo artists who'd love to see somebody painting an animal.
Step 3: Figure out your design. Hmmm, what would wings look like? Okay, done.
Step 4: Using the equipment from Step 2, transpose the design from Step 3 onto the pig from Step 1.
Step 5: Take some photos of the pig with a weird-ass dog.
2001-10-23 02:40:18 PM
I think his thesis should be building a faster web server...
2001-10-23 02:45:06 PM
This guy is a retard.

avoid this "college": University of North Texas
2001-10-23 02:48:48 PM
Hehe. I thought that was actually kind of interesting. . . .
2001-10-23 02:49:11 PM
I don't know - If *MY* lifes ambition was to have winged pigs I know I wouldn't settle for tattooing them on - that's cheating...that pig (and dog) won't fly...

I think this is an example of complete underachievement on this guy's part - he should have taken a couple more years, studied gene manipulation, then made pigs with wings (even if they still don't fly) THAT would be impressive and worthy of Fark.

2001-10-23 02:55:54 PM
I agree - THAT would be impressive and very worthy.
2001-10-23 02:55:59 PM
Only at U. of North Texas.

Wasn't that Dubya's alma mater?
2001-10-23 02:56:12 PM
uhh... Hello? PETA? I'd like to report some weird sh!t....
2001-10-23 02:56:40 PM
University of North Texas: alma mater of Steve Williams aka Stone Cold Steve Austin. heh.

Also: Wooooooo PIG Soooiiiieeee! Go Hogs!
2001-10-23 03:04:58 PM
I'm with DrinkyCrow - I thought that was pretty cool.
Stupid, but cool. I wouldn't mind having a dog like that one, it would be hilarious when he took a dump.

What the hell, he made a little $ doing it, and somebody got a free "lunch". BA HA HA!
2001-10-23 03:05:56 PM
...ummm, hog roast...
2001-10-23 03:12:46 PM
Now if this guy tatooed pigs with tatooed wings on PETA supporters, that would be

mmmmm, people eating tasty animals, mmmmm . . .
2001-10-23 03:15:06 PM
As I read what he had to say I went back and forth in my opinion. I think the whole story is pretty interesting, and the animals looked beautiful (to humans) when they were done. He obiouisly cared about them very much.

I think it's wrong though when humans alter animals ... be it clipping their ears, or cutting off their tails, to suit our own tastes. Kind of gross. I wouldn't mind sitting down and talking with him about morality issues, but I bet inside he's a pretty cool dude. He's gotten us to talk about it and question it, and that's probably what part of his thesis is about.
2001-10-23 03:16:32 PM
I wish North Texas' radio station could've kept its original call letters: KUNT
2001-10-23 03:19:17 PM
If god didn't mean for people to eat animals, why did he make them out of meat?
2001-10-23 03:22:41 PM
Denton seemed like a cool town. I almost went to UNT. But they suck at every sport. So no go.
2001-10-23 03:26:20 PM
Better than tattooing Pigs On The Wing on his own back....yuk yuk!
2001-10-23 03:30:24 PM
Yeessss! My first contribution to FARK is a hit! B.T.W., I think the tattooed pig is kind of cool, but being an art school graduate myself, I also think it's hilarious what you can get away with under the guise of academia.
2001-10-23 03:31:31 PM
Pretty interesting stuff.

As for Peta, the tattooing was done under a vet's supervision, the animal was 'knocked out' and didn't feel anything. Plus animals don't talk so what do you care?
2001-10-23 03:45:41 PM
"Tattoed Pigs and Hairless Dogs?" Wasn't that an old Jethro Tull album?
2001-10-23 03:50:18 PM
Mikehell: I thought it was a very interesting to read, and I thought the pig looked cool with wings! One of the great things about Fark - read about stuff you'd never even think of...
2001-10-23 03:56:50 PM
As long as it doesn't speak or communicate in any recognizable form, we as humans have the right to do what we want with it. God says so.
2001-10-23 04:06:11 PM
Next he should tattoo pigs on the wings of birds.
2001-10-23 04:09:29 PM
Humans are also made out of meat so when are you going to start eating have probably already started?
2001-10-23 04:19:38 PM
This is far from "stupid." Not the best idea I've seen, but still pretty damn cool. It's art, folks. Unclench that sphincter, open that mind, and enjoy.
2001-10-23 04:33:30 PM
this IS the best idea i've ever seen. i read the whole damn thing. i wouldn't mind being any of those characters: the crazy artist, the pig who died from an OD of chocolate easter eggs and champagne, the crazy millionaire who wanted to commission tattoos on a "whole herd of hairless dogs." the dog with a face on his ass. . . hell yeah! if people can make money that way, i see the beginnings of a society i could really be comfortable in.
2001-10-23 04:38:23 PM
It may be art, but it is bad art. It was ugly, and useless, and made no "statement" short of saying, look what stupid thesises (thesi?) they will accept.......
2001-10-23 04:41:10 PM
3 words: too much acid
2001-10-23 04:43:24 PM
Bonobo62: Is YOUR unclenched sphnicter tattooed???
2001-10-23 04:57:10 PM
Itza sihgn o tha porky-lips!!
2001-10-23 05:00:17 PM
he should have tatooed the lyrics to Freebird instead - now that would be tre' cool
