So, not only was he a terrorist, but a Hipster Terrorist?

2011-05-12 09:20:55 PM
I wonder how many 500 mile round-trips his couriers made just to send a chain letter.

"OMG if you don't send this to everyone you know, a predator drone will strike you!!!"

FirstNationalBastard: So, not only was he a terrorist, but a Hipster Terrorist?

Our course is clear: we must raid all the coffee shops and exterminate the hipster couriers.

They rode fixies. Their smugness overcame any fatigue.

I tried this, but you can't really get much pr0n onto a flash drive.

A man ahead of his times....
You know????? Usage Based Billing means less internet data transfer and it's cheaper to send it via courier for your larger downloads/uploads and keeps the prying eyes of DPI out of your data.... Oh wait a minute. Thats only in North America. Never mind.

Mostly hitler cat pics with bad anti-american and jew jokes, so no big deal if you weren't on his list. Also the occasional "this is an outrage" guy whenever a #2 al-qaida got bumped off or israel got into a positive negotiation with palestine.

"Yes, I understand that you are making a several hundred mile trek to an internet cafe to send and receive email messages. I understand that this is a difficult task, and that you place your life at risk in order to further the goals of al-Qaeda. But, my friend, this is a really good Groupon and there is a limited quantity available. Please, hurry."

cyclebiff: Sounds like he was pretty smart guy.

It's too bad America's own politicians can't hide their illegal activity this way. At least we treat our politicians to due process, unlike the massacre at Bin Laden's compound a few weeks ago.

Stay classy, America.

Yeah, there's a big difference between politicians and terrorist leaders.

Politicians don't even try to hide their hypocrisy and dishonesty.

and we CHOOSE these guys to represent us.

Obvious tag missing, act like a spammer, change e-mail address regularly, everyone who has been on the internet has a spam dump/porn email. If you only access the internet from various wifi points with different used laptops, you are less likely be traced. Internet cafes are another option, but you can be spotted as a regular patron.

FTFAHoled up in his walled compound in northeast Pakistan with no phone or Internet capabilities, bin Laden would type a message on his computer without an Internet connection, then save it using a thumb-sized flash drive.

Did bin Laden (i.e. not an assistant) actually sit down and type it up?
He probably can't touch type.. so can you imagine one of the most evil men in the world hunting and pecking at the keyboard? Him trying to figure out why the drive is still "in use" and won't dismount? Watching the computer crash and suddenly realizing he hadn't saved the doc since half an hour ago?

Wouldn't it be a good thing if politicians aren't terribly good at hiding what they're doing wrong?

The more I read about this the more I think the real objective was intel and that they scored big in this regard.

2011-05-12 10:11:30 PM
So his couriers would plug his flash drive in the internet cafes in Pakistan? If that's the case then the Chinese Government and Russian mafia must have extensive notes on Al Qaida.

They can buy Intel and AMD online, no need for the military to get involved.

I still think that we should have waited a month or so before announcing the operation. All this "intelligence", which is basically worthless at this point, could have been mined. Wives and blown up helicopter would have been obstacles, but who's gonna believe the ladies and the Pakistanis had no idea what they were dealing with when it came to the helicopter until the US aviation blogs caught on.

I think Al Queda would have been wondering what had happened to him after a couple days, especially after the sympathizers in the Pakistani government talk to their contacts about an assault by Americans on his last known location. Word would have gone down the grapevine regardless of an announcement by Obama, and the cockroaches would have scurried in hours or days anyway. I figure the US military hit the obvious targets they could in the hours after the raid, and then sent the rest of the info to intelligence agencies for deeper analysis.

Dear Sir/Madam,

I'm aware that this unexpected letter will come to you as a surprise. I am only seeking for your help. I got your email address from Jihadi directory.

I am OSAMA BIN LADEN, and during my leadership of Al Qaeda, I deposited in my name the sum of $8.400000(eight million four hundred thousand united state dollars)to a security and finance company in the Nerherlands. This money was deposited as family treasure/valuables.

When crisis out-break in my country, I flee to Pakistan for refuge. As an asylum seeker, I do not have the modalities to put up claims to this fund. Hence, I am contacting you to assist me in transferring this fund into your account.

I am will to offer 30% of the total fund to you for your assistance. This transaction is risk free as you have nothing to be afaid of.As soon as I hear from you, I will give you details on how to conclude this transaction with success.

I thought this was pretty much SOP in most of the developing world where internet connects are sparse or poor. I have friends who work on IT access in Africa, and they say that most internet communication is done this way.

Bin Laden was a well educated engineer from money. It's been explained numerous times. I don't know where people get this idea he was a complete moron. Part of me suspects there's a bit of bigotry involved........ kind of like the kind behind 'aliens built the pyramids' and 'the cloud warriors of peru were europeans'.

Am I wrong, though?

He was taught by professionals. Since his father was megarich and his family was connected to the Saudi royal family itself, I wonder what he learned from both his father and from the royals.
