I only say a half of one season of the show, but I can tell you that Whedon is one of the best writers in Hollywood. So submitter has his head up his arse.

When he's on, he's on. And then sometimes he writes Alien: Resurrection.

No arguments here on A:R, but that seems to be the only real loss in his win-loss record.

So far there aren't alot of bites. Let's hold off on the "excellent" part of that statement for a little while. See how things end up.

Technically it was the followup.Whedon hated the film though, said they bastardized his script/concept. He slapped the movie in the face relatively often in the show.

What's the matter, subby? Did Ms. Gellar tear apart your poorly-written fanfic? Do you bear such bile because she rebuked your sweaty advances? You poor thing.

Yeah. The movie was her 1st year of high school. The show starts with her 2nd year ... at a new school, in a new town, because of the events of the movie.

It is a direct continuation of the story.

I like Firefly and some of Buffy but all of Whedon's characters talk in the same sarcastic voice. Everyone in the 'verse isn't that witty.

Buffy the Vampire was not Gods gift to TV, people really need to get over it. Everything gets remade, just how it goes.

MDGeist: Buffy the Vampire was not Gods gift to TV, people really need to get over it. Everything gets remade, just how it goes.

That is correct. God's gift to TV was Law & Order, may it continue syndicate and keep TNT alive, in His Glory, forever and ever, amen.

2011-05-12 11:58:15 AM
I would rather watch a continuation or spin-off than a reboot.

I don't have anything against reboots or remakes, but in this particular case, I don't think that it will be as good as the source material.

Um, have you been in Hollywood for the past 10 years Sarah? They are "rebooting" franchises now that just got "rebooted" not even 6 years ago.

Which is one of the reasons why Firefly worked a lot better for me than both Buffy and Angel. For a sci-fi western it worked, for a couple of stereotypical US high school teens? Not that well. Not even talking about the difference in cast quality. (SMG is the blandest thing ever. Compared to her Anniston and Alba are like a female version of a cross between Oscar Wilde and both Old Spice guys)

I personally love the first Buffy game that was released on the original xbox. i still find it funny that SMG refused to voice the game (altho the sound alike that they used sounds just like her) but these days she has no issue being in games or voicing Robot Chicken.

I just want to kill whoever decided the term "reboot" would make remakes seem less lame. I want to kill them until they're dead, then stomp on the bits.

In all honesty, I just figure it's the effects of cabin fever. Being in the dead of space for weeks on end can't be good for your mental health.

It is a horrible idea. Not because the series was bad, but mostly because it pretty much ran it's course. It's done, the cast is done with it, Whedon is done with it. Whedon really one of the best TV writers out there, and I have no doubt that he will come up with another fantastic idea soon enough, which will promptly be cancelled for another pregnate drug-addict teenage celebrity hoarder reality show.

I've never been a huge Whedon fan, but I can't put all of the blame for Alien:Resurrection on him. When he was hired to write the script it was supposed to be a clone of Newt, not Ripley, but the producers changed it later. Also, the French director needed a translator because he spoke little English. Just about every director they approached, including Jeunet who was ultimately hired wasn't really that interested in another Alien film as they all felt it had ended with Alien 3.

/Also the director originally insisted that the alien/human hybrid of apparent genitals of both sexes, but later had to remove them in post-production as "Even for a Frenchman it's too much"

I thought she was a Senior in the movie. Since she went to prom. Then the show just sort of ignored her movie age which was a good thing.

I would disagree. I downloaded a Buffy trivia ap for my Android phone and it gives a quote from the series and you have to say who said it. Most are so obscure that I can't remember, but I can read the line and say "That sounds like X" and nine times out of ten I'm right. Buffy does not talk like Giles. Willow does not talk like Anya. Spike does not talk like Xander. Everyone has a different voice.

And Whedon wrote every line of dialog in Speed, yet no one says "OMG Typical Whedon-speak!"
Lots of Whedon haters said before Dollhouse aired that it would be "nothing but pop culture laden banter" but strangely went very quiet when the show aired....
