Many of the protesters said they were upset with the lack of progress on immigration during Obama's presidency.

There's been plenty of progress. Deportations are up significantly, and his INSDHS has taken better advantage of existing laws allowing fining/charging of those employing illegal workers than any administration in memory.

Were they expecting him to magically rewrite the laws or magic the money to complete the stupid border-fence idea from thin air? The president can't actually change the law of the land, only enforce it.

After the protesters and those hoping for a glimpse of the president learned he wouldn't be traveling that way, they quickly dispersed.

fixed that for you, Jennifer Myers

She never clarified if she did the first time. It's like how I used to hear some birthers say that they couldn't vote for him unless he proved he was legitimate. They didn't the first time, and they aren't going to the second time. It seems to be a psychological protection against irrational dislike for somebody. Some people will latch onto any damn reason they can think of to support a hatred they already had

It's always fascinated me: there are THAT many people that are completely oblivious to the voiced intent of both parties, and how they will base a future vote on that, but one thing happens in the news (or to them personally that has nothing to do with either party or politics in general) and they call it the game-changer.

They're acting like the Stan character in the Eminem song...

...a song that is very good at describing the thought processes of a short-fused, frustrated, and angry person.
