My favorite part is how they call former Alaska senator Ted Stevens, one of the nation's great lovers of oil companies, a "whistleblower of the BP oil spill."

Sounds a bit too much like that debunked Clinton death list.

Citations by Wikipedia and the Daily Fail? This is more than a little too iffy for me.

Also, there were only 12 'high profile' whistleblowers?

JerseyTim: Sounds a bit too much like that debunked Clinton death list.

Bingo...they even brought out the "Mysterious illness" charge on the second guy...who died of natural causes.

Also, where's the mystery in his death? The man was 87 years old.

2011-05-07 04:09:35 PM
Oh wait, he died in a plane crash. Even still, if you're going to engineer someone's death, an 87 year old seems an unlikely target.

2011-05-07 04:11:00 PM
That list isn't complete without adding Gary Underhill, Dorothy Kilgallen, Earlene Roberts, Lee Bowers Jr., and Hale Boggs.

Oh. Wrong list.

Age is kinda irrelevant here since he died in a plane crash.

According to the graphic, one of the whistleblowers was a Viet Cong officer/spy. Now that's an odd twist I hadn't ever considered.

Yeah, that's interesting and all, but it hardly rises to the level of birth certificates, college transcripts and staged "assassinations.".

April 6, 2010 - Scientist Joseph Morrissey, age 46 - cell biologist and college professor, a near-native Floridian who chose to return to South Florida after studying at elite universities - was fatally shot during what police say was a home invasion robbery.

Didn't the Deepwater Horizon explode on April 20th?

This is what Snopes has to say about "body count" lists, this is from their article about the "Clinton body count" (new window):

"Body count" lists are not a new phenomenon. Lists documenting all the allegedly "suspicious" deaths of persons connected with the assassination of John F. Kennedy have been circulating for decades, and the same techniques used to create and spread the JFK lists have been employed in the Clinton version:

• List every dead person with even the most tenuous of connections to your subject. It doesn't matter how these people died, or how tangential they were to your subject's life. The longer the list, the more impressive it looks and the less likely anyone is to challenge it. By the time readers get to the bottom of the list, they'll be too weary to wonder what could possibly be relevant about the death of Clinton's mother's chiropractor.

• Play word games. Make sure every death is presented as "mysterious." All accidental deaths are to be labelled "suspicious," even though by definition accidents occur when something unexpected goes wrong. Every self-inflicted death discussed must include the phrase "ruled a suicide" to imply just the opposite. When an autopsy contradicts a "mysterious death" theory, dispute it; when none was performed because none was needed, claim that "no autopsy was allowed." Make liberal use of words such as 'allegedly' and 'supposedly' to dismiss facts you can't contradict with hard evidence.

• Make sure every inconsistency or unexplained detail you can dredge up is offered as evidence of a conspiracy, no matter how insignificant or pointless it may be. If an obvious suicide is discovered wearing only one shoe, ignore the physical evidence of self-inflicted death and dwell on the missing shoe. You don't have to establish an alternate theory of the death; just keep harping that the missing shoe "can't be explained."

• If the data doesn't fit your conclusion, ignore it. You don't have to explain why the people who claim to have the most damaging goods on Clinton - Gennifer Flowers, Paula Jones, Kathleen Willey, Linda Tripp, Monica Lewinsky, Kenneth Starr - are still walking around unscathed while dozens of bit players have been bumped off. It's inconvenient for you, so don't mention it.

• Most importantly, don't let facts and details stand in your way! If you can pass off a death by pneumonia as a "suicide," do it! If a cause of death contradicts your conspiracy theory, claim it was "never determined." If your chronology of events is impossible, who cares? It's not like anybody is going to check up on this stuff . . .

WhyteRaven74: Paris1127: Didn't the Deepwater Horizon explode on April 20th?

Yeah it did.

So BP's team of psychics told the head office that the DH would explode, so a hit squad was sent to kill some scientist in an apparent home invasion two weeks before the explosion?

Those bastards!

December 31, 2010 - John P. Wheeler III, a former Pentagon official and presidential aide and a defense consultant and expert on chemical and biological weapons - was beaten to death in an assault, body was discovered in a Wilmington landfill.

I remember hearing about this case. Isn't this the case where they had video footage before he died looking woozy and disoriented? Anyway, anyone heard or read anything else about progress by investigators?

2011-05-07 05:34:54 PM
The funny thing is, these conspiracy theories presume that governments and corporations have something to lose by allowing whistle-blowers to live. However, BP doesn't NEED to do anything so extreme as killing people. There clearly have been no huge consequences to this oil spill as most of our legislators are bought off. Why bother with killing people?

Nothing when I googled. I found it interesting that he was just buried on 29 April, even though he had been killed on 31 December. That's a long time to hold onto a body.

fta Because only Republicans are having a contested presidential primary in 2012...

Really? You believe there's a whole field of Republicans clamoring to battle one efficient, steely-nerved, multitasking, black ninja gangster president in 2012?

TED STEVENS?!

They're including TED STEVENS on this list?!

Ted Stevens spent his career as the best friend oil ever had. He lost his seat because he was taking graft from oil service companies, fercrissake. And there is absolutely no controversy behind his death.

exick: Also, where's the mystery in his death? The man was 87 years old.

The natural average life expectancy of humans is 350 years. There are so many conspiracies silencing people that it is exceptional for someone to live past 100.

JerseyTim: Sounds a bit too much like that debunked Clinton death list.

What about the Lincoln Assassination death list? Everyone who had anything to do with that is dead!

Wake up, sheeple!

Jesus Christ, it reads like a bad murder novel, which means its probably unrelated coincidence and not malice . . .

2011-05-07 06:15:21 PM
Obviously Ted Stevens is on the list because he was part of the conspiracy to kill the other eleven whistleblowers. It is said that he provided transportation for the bodies - not a truck, but a series of tubes through which the bodies were transported to a safe hiding place - Osama bin Laden's mansion.

There's absolutely no motive to kill these people off. If the writers knew how much money oil companies are willing to spend on lawyers just to delay the outcomes of trials for environmental disasters, then they would have scrapped this article idea long ago. It simply isn't enough money to be worth it.

If I wanted to kill an 87-year-old and make it look like an accident, I would poison him in a way that looks like a heart attack or other old-person illness.

That's the really scary thing.
