"Ge-orge"? What a strange name. Is it pronounced like "gay orgy", or what?

My name is as old as hell (Lena), but no one seems to use it in this country. Made me mad when I was little and wanted pencils with my name on them, but I've always liked it. It suits me.

My name isn't on any of those lists, and neither is the name of my daughter. We're just too hip, I guess.

It does make it difficult to get license plates with our names on them, though.

2011-05-06 01:19:27 PM
My brother's and my name are both right next to each other on the 2000's list, and we were both born in the 80's. Wtf, mate.

Weird. My name's Matthew, but I was born in the 70's. Plenty of other people in my class with the same name, I can't imagine it wasn't popular in the 70's. Matthew's just one of those timeless names. *shrug*

Shortened to 'Matt', it's also one of the most difficult for other people to hear in an environment with more than two people. "Max? Mac? Muhmuhamahuma? Muhnuhmuhnuh?"

Duh. Fortunately my name will never be a part of that. It's nice to have a unique name that's not just a horrific rape of proper spelling

Nope, definitely not.

I imagine many of those kids will change their name when they get old enough.

I think what we're all saying is - it's a shiat list.

I like my common-as-hell 1970s name. Robert.

Plenty of options with Robert. Robert, Robby, Rob, Bobby, Bob, and, if you really feel like stretching it, Bert.

Hmm...all the people I have known named Nancy are now all in their mid-50s. Why did that name become so popular in the 1950s and then completely drop off? Anyone know?

2011-05-06 01:23:48 PM
According to the article, I was either born in the 1950's, the 1960's, the 1970's, or the 2000's. That really clears things up.

No, it is NOT a "CSB." Your observation would have been more interesting to me if you didn't resort to using that imbecilic overly fraternal acronym.

Close. I was cloned from the handsome geniuses available and grown in a vat of chemicals for the first half of my life. The scientists had very high hopes for me, but I discovered the internet and now I spend my time on Fark.

We named my daughter Eleanor after my mother. We were shocked when all these other kids were named "Ella" because people are using that as short for "Isabella".

I didn't want her to have a super-common name.
