It's for the protection of children, and I am all for it. If you are the age of consent, look at all the online porn you want. I dont want my kids getting emails with porn links on them, and parental protection on browsers is a joke. Bash Bush all ya want, but the law protecting kids is a good one.

God forbid you should take responsibility for your own kids nd what they look at on the Internet. Do me a favour, leave me, my porn and my masterbatin' ways alone, and raise your damn kids. that's YOUR job, not mine, and certainly not the governments. If you don't like what your kids see on the computer, turn it off, or better yet, get off your ass-grooved couch, put down the pringles, turn off macGyver and take an active interest in what your kids watch. Nobody forced you to have 'em, so don't force anyone to babysit them. Believe it or not, I could care less what your children watch, and if your lazy-ass parenting leads to me not being able to watch a woman and a goat explore their feelings for one another, I'm gonna be hella-pissed.

Maybe it's just me, but isn't it a PARENT's responsibility to ensure that their kids aren't viewing porn on the Web?

The Supreme Court doesn't need to be involved, Mom and Dad do...

2003-08-13 11:03:49 AM
As both a parent and a lover of porn, I'm torn on this issue. They need to make new domains like .xxx, and .kids, and regulate what's on them. So we can easliy filter what our kids are viewing on the web?

The meaning behind the law is good.. it's just the execution of it.

That just about sums up the entire production of (insert capital city name here) for the last 40 or 50 years....longer if you really get to digging.

Keep in mind that this law could be used to prosecute spammers...

Spam legislation already exists. I don't know how many times i have to say that.

won't somebody please think of the children???

Pisschrist That's probably the best idea out there.

And it comes from a guy named Pisschrist, for Christ's sakes.

FINALLY! An issue that all the farkers can hate bush for. Even the hardest core of hard core bush schwang slobberers should be up-in-arms over this one. Run him out of town!

Ashcroft v. ACLU?

Sounds like the rallying-cry for the Bush Administration's Domestic Policy planners!

Is it ok to think about them in the way priests think about them?

Nah, dude, you just need to learn how to protect your kids. Read 2003-08-13 10:44:16 AM nightbreed's post.

2003-08-13 11:07:00 AM
Bottom line is - you are the parent. It is your job to protect your kids. I should not have to pay for your child with my personal freedom.

Word.

Christ, let's take allll the bad things out of the world because some people don't like their children to see it. God forbid the parents do some actual....oh, I don't know...PARENTING. There are ways around it; you're just too lazy to seek them out and want the government to parent for you.

They can have my porn when they pry it from my cold dead heads, or something.

2003-08-13 11:07:29 AM
The broader law at issue now requires that operators of commercial Internet sites use credit cards or some form of adults-only screening system...

Thereby increasing identity theft, internet fraud, and spam.

Good thing I like the German and European stuff...

From SNL skit:

Man: "Legalize Pr0n!!!"
Speaker: "It's already legal, dude."
Man: "Not the stuff I like..."

Ahem!!

Ashcroft is a PENTICOSTAL CHRISTIAN! These are the most farked up religious bigots that I personaly know about.

Do anything you can to get him out of office before it is too late. Your rights and free thinking are at stake.

2003-08-13 11:07:45 AM
Ahem...without free porn, the internet would lose half it's charm...

Dean '04!!

2003-08-13 11:08:16 AM
Hmm...

You can have my porn, pop-up or not, when you pry it from my cold, dead hand.

That is all.

Weemill:

then how do you hear about children making it out of crappy neighborhoods and making something of themselves? You will always hear them tell stories of their mother or father of both who worked three jobs to help feed the family and told them to study and instilled into them work ethics, a sense of pride.
Most parents today want their state to raise their child. It doesnt take a village at all. One person, just one can affect a childs life.
The idea of the 'village' that H. Satan Clinton referred to was borrowed from John Winthrop, an early puritan, who spoke of building a village on a hill ruled by god. So basically in her allusion she is speaking of raising children by the church, or in less dirty words, her church (the state)
The state cant even run a DMV let alone raise a child.

One parent, one responsibility.
NO VILLAGE

I was an avid Bush supporter back in 2000 but not because I agreed with his views. I actually severely disagreed with Gore's views and thus chose the lesser of two evils.

A few months back I was introduced to the Libertarian party. I won't tell you what to believe, but if you are dissatisfied with current politicians (republicans and democrats) then I encourage you to check it out.

I will vote for them in upcoming elections even if I think they won't win and even if it means the ultimate evil (democrats) will win. If the Libertarians pick up enough support they might have a chance in future elections.

Can anyone tell me when looking at porn started turning kids into homicidal maniacs? I remember looking at a few 'Playboys' and 'Penthouses' when I was a kid, but I've yet to kill anyone, or do anything remotely bad enough to get me arrested.

Don't get me wrong, I don't advocate kids looking at porn all day, and I do think it's up to the parents to be vigilant enough to know what their kids are doing. Just stop trying to take away people's rights 'in the name of the children', because it's such bullshiat that no one believes it anyway.

Must get back to porn and murder.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not advocating child porn or encouraging kids to hit up jamhole.com or anything, but why is human sexuality so forbidden? Humans have been farking for a million years. Animals have been farking for a billion years. farking is essential to the survival of the species! Look what happened to the Shakers when they decided sex was bad. They don't exist anymore!

Kids are going to find out one way or another where they came from anyway.

True, I'm not talking a village of legislation, however, I'm talking social connections. My mother worked several jobs to feed/clothe my brothers and I but she relied on friends for help, church relationships, my decent friends who helped me stay on the right track, etc. We don't necessarily grow up in a bubble. But the parents are the head of our villages. The other families/friends involved that our parents expose us to is the rest of that village.
True, however, it all starts with the parent. I won't deny you that.

3rd parties are quite happy even if they dont win.
I think as long as they pull something like 7% of the vote they receive "matching funds" for the next election.
Also, they tend to fight a lot harder in the easier to win local elections.

Vote libertarian... or green... or communist... or whatever!
Just dont vote for the 2 rich white guys in the next election.

Ashcroft vs a dead guy

Ashcroft vs Constitution

Ashcroft vs ACLU

Besides which, a little pornography never hurt anyone.

I'd rather Jenna Jameson teach my kids how to do it than creepy Uncle David.

"It's the parents! It's the parents!" - the cry heard from mostly non-parent Farkers I'd guess. In case you haven't figured it out, parents are not omniscient or omnipresent. What's the alternative? Throw out the computer? Not realistic if you want your kids to pass school these days. And despite claims to the contrary, children in previous generations were supervised far less than they were today. Mom and Dad had far too many chores to keep a 24/7 watch on Junior.

Similar to laws that make it illegal for you to fark in the streets, the internet is so public now that there should be some common sense rules limiting what people can pop up on your screen without your permission.

"It's for the protection of children, and I am all for it. "

Slippery slope, my friend. Wery slippery, indeed.

"PATRIOT ACT": FOR YOUR PROTECTION.
Cameras at intersections: FOR YOUR PROTECTION.
Cameras on the highway: FOR YOUR PROTECTION.
Checkpoints on highways: FOR YOUR PROTECTION.

I am scared of this.
