We've seen JFK's head being blown off for decades. Bullshiat.
If retaliation is "inevitable", then they might as well show the pics.

Of course you'd have to believe the story in the first place.

Epiphany: Shrugging Atlas: Sarah Palin, on Twitter:

@SarahPalinUSA Show photo as warning to others seeking America's destruction. No pussy-footing around, no politicking, no drama;it's part of the mission

There's just no end to the stupidity produced by this woman.

She has a son in the military. By her logic, it would be fine with her for the Taliban to release photos of his corpse with a bullet in his head since that's part of their mission.

1.)They farking do that already
2.)A random soldier and the most wanted man in the world are two completely different things. Especially a man that's been reported dead numerous times before.

Yet again I BELIEVE HE IS DEAD. Without proof a good 70 percent of the world doesn't.

Considering he got a double-tap to the face.... what are the chances there is much left to see? depending on the angle of the bullet's exit, range, caliber, etc.... there might be a picture of some giant gaping hole with no resembelence of a face.

at that point, people would still biatch and say "i can't recognize him, so he must not be dead" and claim it isn't him.

(i'd still like to see it though)

2011-05-04 04:33:34 PM

Epiphany: Why should we not release the photos is the better question to ask you then? What do we gain by not releasing them?

Why give al Qaeda another visceral image to slap on a recruiting poster?

chappy62: Pics just released. (graphic)

CONSPIRACY! Those pics say May 2nd and they claimed they were taken hours after the kill.

2011-05-04 04:34:05 PM

mmmmmmmDROP!:
There is an unquestionably right way to handle this. Victims of 9/11 need actual proof that he's dead.

Yeah right. This is precisely like the birthers claiming they "just" wanted to see Obama's long-form birth certificate: When he finally released it, they started whining about some other random shiat.

You don't need to see pictures of Bin Laden's bullet-blasted head. I'm sure you can fap just fine to an imagined vision of the same.

2011-05-04 04:34:10 PM

PC LOAD LETTER: Well, no reason except all the other reasons mentioned.

All the reasons mentioned are bullshiat.

1.)"It'll piss them off" guess what, we killed their hero, invaded a sovereign nation, and improperly disposed of his body. If you for some reason think them seeing a picture would make them madder you're delusional.

2.)"Conspiracy theorists won't believe it anyways" is failed logic. There are plenty of people who will believe proof IE pictures more so than they would believe Obamas word. I'm talking about people in other countries, and Al Qaidi itself.

Now do you have a real reason not to release them? Or just the 2 shiatty reasons listed?

2011-05-04 04:34:11 PM
Yeah, pretty much the same reason I was yellin' youngsters for running to the streets when the news broke. I don't give a shiat about who is pissed if they were released, it just looks class-less.

2011-05-04 04:34:40 PM

nekom: Only thing is "Imagine how the American people would react if Al Qaeda killed one of our troops or military leaders, and put photos of the body on the internet,"

Uh hey cheif, they have.

That's the farking point. Americans flipped the help out (appropriately) and that just increased their resolve. It also made the enemy look like savages.

If you think all people will do is look at the picture of bin Laden and be done, you must be new to the internet United States world.

2011-05-04 04:35:54 PM

Epiphany: A large portion of the world, including our enemies IE Al Qaida have no reason to trust the USA's word. They sure as fark are going to be much more inclined to trust actual proof over the enemies "word".

I think Al-Qaeda will notice when he isn't showing up to the softball games.

Besides they already released an eulogy and declared they would have their revenge. Those dudes know.

They already have those with the faked death pictures. Any real reason not to release them?

plewis: Save your paper. Unless you are a family member, you don't need to know and it's not your right to know what the government has about someone else. You will be denied.

That's not how the FOIA works.

We know there are pictures and video (they were all watching something in that briefing room), and dozens of reports which detail every footstep of what went down. This is likely the most documented kill op in US history.

I'd wager that Obama wont release that stuff now. It'll all be "leaked" during the latter part of the 2012 election when his main opponent tries to question the presidents military and foreign policy record.

Releasing them now just causes outrage and more questions. Releasing them on the eve of the election causes a temporary boost to his popularity among the right. Meanwhile the left will be too entrenched to let their distaste for bloodshed dissuade them from voting for the only show in town.

He'll need to shift from his image as Obama-the-diplomat (for winning the primary) to Obama-the-merciless for election night. A nightvision video of a dozen seals rushing Osamas Hq is just the thing.

Last I read, it was one shot to the head and one or two to the chest. The picture that best showed it was Osama included a gaping hole just above his left eye.

Go ahead, crazypants. Try to make this a conspiracy. We'll just roll our eyes and ask you about the moon landing.

Hello everybody, ah want to welcome y'all to this hastily convened condo association meeting. We all got a new guest moving in this week. I need to tell ya'. Some o' you may not like him but we need ta' welcome him friendly like.

Mister Tillman, y'all need to sit down. His name's Obama bin Laden. Ahm sorry. That's Osama. Osama bin Laden. Yeah. You know him but here at the Fletcher Home for the Vaporized, he'll just be another guest. He'll be movin' in down in the 400 block. He's a quiet loner and promises not to make any noises after 11 or Jihads or nuttin.

You young 'uns might have a problem with mister Laden, but take a look at our senior members. Mister JF Kennedy and Lee Harvey are just best o' friends now. When they first got here, they couldn't look at each other. Now they're at the Euchre table every Friday night.

One last note. You all gonna be electing a new Condo president this month. I, Elvis, have been proud-a-roud proud to have served as your president but my two terms is up. Now, Mister Jeffrey Skilling has thrown his hat in to the ring and I think he's a mighty fine candidate. He's brought tip calculators fer everyone and he's gotta mah support.

Thank you. Thank you very much.

Hobodeluxe: I don't need to see it. a hole in the head isn't pretty. it wouldn't hush the conspiracy theorists up anyway and it's kinda barbaric. it make us us fit the ugly American stereotype. I didn't like it when they released Hussein's sons' pics either.

Do you actually believe that Al Qaidi is just one group of people in one place with one set form of beliefs?

nekom: Litterbox: nekom: Only thing is "Imagine how the American people would react if Al Qaeda killed one of our troops or military leaders, and put photos of the body on the internet,"

Uh hey cheif, they have.

Yeah and as I recall it inflamed the shiat out of us. And we are rational...can you imagine what this would do to the Radical Islamists? Hell a cartoon sent them over the edge a while back.

True. It may turn out to be the right decision, though the morbid curiosity in me really wants to see the pics.

If you can wait 10 to 20 years, you might get your wish. My guess anyways.

Since everyone knows that the elections are in 2012 (not 2014), I assume that you are privy to some top-secret information regarding the overthrow of the government by the radical Islamic terrorist that are - at this moment - being escorted into our country by the Obama administration.

well i THOUGHT it was top secret. who told you?

Sorry, my bad. He seemed like an okay guy, plus he bought me a beer.

2011-05-04 04:38:56 PM

Mr. Coffee Nerves: Said Obama: "The risks of release outweigh the benefits. Conspiracy theorists around the world will just claim the photos are doctored anyway, and there is a real risk that releasing the photos will only serve to inflame public opinion in the Middle East."

He added: "Imagine how the American people would react if Al Qaida killed one of our troops or military leaders, and put photos of the body on the internet. Osama bin Laden is not a trophy -- he is dead and let's now focus on continuing the fight until Al Qaida has been eliminated."

While i agree with what he says, my own sense of morbid curiosity wants it out there.

Of course we are talking about the same group of people that cut a guys head off and put it on the internet.

So when the derp storm starts at upcoming town hall meetings they can convincingly say: "I have seen the photos, so shut up and sit down."

They probably wont be released until that whole reelection thing comes around again.

Don't need to explain why.

lennavan: Fool0ndahill: I don't need to see the pictures, but I think my elected congressional representative should have the authority to take a look.

Because they are our representatives in the government. They should be shown the evidence and be able to tell their constituents that it's legit, but as a matter of national security and common decency it's top secret.

This is how representative government should work, though would work a lot better if the GOP hadn't been eroding our faith in our government for years.

That picture was proven to be a hoax. It has been reported that in the real picture there was indeed a shot his head and the brain is exposed. Pretty grusome stuff, and the second shot was to the chest.

Release the pics! I want to see the bastard dead! I want to look on his dead face. I want to see this carcass mangeld and destroyed.

2011-05-04 04:41:58 PM
You know, a couple of people have mentioned this in passing, but I don't think anyone has presented the whole idea yet, so here goes.

This is Obama once again putting a political tactical nuke in his pocket with the intent of either never using it OR delivering it later for maximum effect on his opponents, whichever becomes necessary.

Imagine, if you will, that around this same time of year or a bit later in 2012, that the Deathers are now in a frothing frenzy insisting that OBL isn't actually dead and the whole thing is a hoax orchestrated to support Obama's presidency. They are going on about how easy it would be to release the photos, questioning why Obama is "kowtowing to the Muslins" or some such derp. They are making so much noise that they are once again starting to obscure the actual political discourse on real issues, the media is covering them extensively, and prominent Republicans are flirting with them, just as they flirted with the Birthers.

And then and only then, Obama makes a speech about how this is interfering with the business of governance, and that he is disappointed that a trivial issue has once again sidelined everything else, and announces that prominent political leaders from both parties (governors, senators, congresspeople, etc.), representatives of major news outlets and a variety of experts on image processing will be giving the opportunity to view the photos and video footage of OBL's death for the purposes of validating the authenticity of the images and of who they depict - without actually showing the pictures to the public at large.

All those respected luminaries will then be shown the proof of OBL's death, and then will go on to confirm they have seen it and validated it first hand. The deathers then go into a death spiral the same as the birthers have done, and the Republicans involved will be once again be faced with the same choice to either pander to their base and look insane to the public at large, or else try to appear rational to the independant voters while alienating their base.

And meanwhile Obama will sit back with yet another shiat-eating grin on his face as he watches the antics either way.

If on the other hand, none of this plays out, then Obama has made the right call to be diplomatic with the Arab powers in the Middle East, and with many of his own base.

Remember that he has the photos and videos on hand to use if he needs to. There is literally no downside to this for him if he plays it right, and I can't imagine that after the evidence of the last week he would play it wrong.

Seriously, people, hasn't anyone else noticed how really effing good Obama is at playing the long game and holding on to his political assets until their moment of maximum utility? Politically, the man is a player, and you contend against him at your peril, as Trump has so recently learned by the most painful of means.

2011-05-04 04:42:21 PM
I just lost a ton of respect for Obama. This is honestly enough to make me not vote for him again. The whole thing reeks and he is not doing anything to provide any kind of viable proof about the demise of a leader who headed an incident that has completely steered our whole country for the last 10 years. This is completely unacceptable.

2011-05-04 04:42:49 PM

Personally, I suspect that if a member of congress asked for permission to view the pictures they would have the request granted, but wouldn't get copies.

2011-05-04 04:42:55 PM

Hermione_Granger: If this is anything like the birth certificate we'll see the pics in three years after Donald Trump throws a hissy fit.

Donald who? Stick a fork in the Trump. He's done and I called that before Obama killed OBL.

2011-05-04 04:44:35 PM
What will releasing the photo do? A contingent of people will always have doubt that we ever actually got Bin Laden. This country has so many morons who still think Elvis is alive and in hiding. Seriously what farking good would it be? Some masturbation fodder for some necrophiliac republicans perhaps? If you're so farked up you wanna look at some dead bodies, just google "dead bodies" and hit image search. You farking psychopaths. I'm done.

2011-05-04 04:44:56 PM
As if pictures would ever satisfy anyone prone to believing in conspiracy theories. All it does is allow them to create new conspiracy theories as to how the photos were doctored or fake.

2011-05-04 04:46:01 PM

you_idiot: Who wants to see pics of a guy with half his head blown off?

Probably, a portion of the people who lost loved ones at 9/11. There is a database of these people. If there are a several hundred of these people that need that for closure, I think they could arrange for a private viewing of the photos. Discretely.

2011-05-04 04:46:06 PM

Epiphany: Yet again I BELIEVE HE IS DEAD. Without proof a good 70 percent of the world doesn't.

70 percent? Are you sure it's not 68%? 74%? Threeve%? Let's see your math.

Made up numbers aside, at this point, people that want to see the photos fall into one of two categories:

1. People that don't believe he was killed. Given all that's come to light regarding the operation over the past 3 days that support the fact he was, and ignoring the high possibility more information will be released in the coming days or weeks that support the fact he was, these people aren't going to believe it no matter what photos are released. Call them Deathers, or just farking obtuse. I don't care.

2. People that believe he was killed but want to see it out of intellectual curiosity, because they feel it is their right, because it will make them feel good, because they want to rub one out to the image, etc.

Group two can fark right off. There's nothing to say to them and their opinion doesn't mean shiat.

Group one can do the same. They'll either come to believe it, or they won't, but he'll be dead just the same.

2011-05-04 04:46:29 PM
Remember when the they released the photo of a dead Kenny Boy Lay and people still didn't believe it? (including me)

2011-05-04 04:46:38 PM
Why is Obama going to ground zero on his victory lap tour? Why is he rolling around in the successful killing of OBL but wont show the pics? I paid for the operation, my helicopters, my tax dollars, my bullets, I get the bill, I dont get the pics though for some reason. Its like paying to produce a film you arent allowed to watch. The pictures aren't secret, they are the exact opposite of secret - show the damn things. Everyone in this country waited over 9 years for this A-hole to get shot not lets see the friggin pictures and WHO CARES if the "arab street" freaks out, they arent freaking out now, its not against islam to shoot your enemy in the head - or chop it off, film it and release it on youtube like they have done.
